After news broke early Monday that Twitter was preparing to accept a buy-out offer from billionaire Elon Musk, MSNBC’s Morning Joe was already in panic mode. Left-wing pundit and marketing expert Donny Deutsch warned that it was like “Dr. Evil” was taking over the social media giant and it was upsetting his “tummy meter.”

A letter sent Friday and signed by a group of 18 House Republicans, headlined by Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), calls on Twitter’s board members to prepare to provide information about their efforts to prevent billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk from buying the social media platform.

The world’s richest man is set to complete his hostile takeover of Twitter for $43 billion, according to news reports.

According to The Wall Street Journal on Sunday, Twitter is reportedly reconsidering Elon Musk’s offer to purchase the platform for $43 billion. The Journal said the platform might be more receptive to a deal after Musk received $46.5 billion in financing.

Twitter will use a new feature on the platform to promote “safety” on the platform. TechCrunch reported that users would see third-party apps promoted on Twitter using “Twitter Toolbox.”

Twitter announced on Earth Day that decided to remove any ads on the platform that contain so-called “misinformation” about climate change. The Washington Post reported that the platform said the removed ads “contradict the scientific consensus on climate change.”

The richest man in the world, Elon Musk, recently purchased a 9% stake in Twitter, the social media platform that permanently banned former President Donald Trump and that conservatives accuse of suppressing their content. Musk's purchase made him Twitter's largest shareholder, and he vowed to take it over, possibly to turn it into a private company.
