Press Virtually Ignores Obama's 'No Interference' Netanyahu Hypocrisy
February 2nd, 2015 5:43 PM
According to the Israeli publication Haaretz and many other news outlets, President Obama and Secretary of State John Kerry won't meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu because it's "inappropriate."
Specifically, "The White House cited the proximity of the Israeli election to Netanyahu's visit, and the desire to refrain from interfering in the election." Certain blatant falsehoods…
Worse Than Seattle’s Super Bowl Call? The Media’s Calls on Government
February 2nd, 2015 9:37 AM
The Seattle Seahawks yesterday - in a moment of profound foolishness - forsook Beast Mode for Least Mode. And it cost them the Super Bowl. But they can take ever so slight solace - the Media has been in Least Mode for decades.
This has been on prominent display throughout the Barack Obama Administration - and certainly when it comes to the Administration’s many, MANY unilateral power grabs…
NYT Gins Up Climate Change Poll Story: GOP 'Out of Step'
January 31st, 2015 10:44 PM
Not content with reporting the news, the New York Times on Saturday tried to manufacture its own, issuing a "climate change" poll with an environmental group, and putting it on the front page as news in order to push the paper's own left-wing alarmist view of global warming.
NY Times Correction Undercuts Premise of Item on U.S.-Netanyahu Spat
January 31st, 2015 9:23 PM
Over at American Thinker, Thomas Lifson caught a damning admission the New York Times made in a correction to a Thursday piece by Carl Hulse and Jeremy W. Peters. The correction blew apart their write-up's entire premise, namely that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was trying to make amends with congressional Democrats and having to explain why "the White House had been circumvented…
AP Covers Fire Chief's Sacking, Ignores Religious Discrimination Claim
January 30th, 2015 11:48 PM
Former Atlanta Fire Chief Kelvin Cochran, who alleges he was fired from his position solely because of his Christian beliefs, has filed a religious discrimination complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
That's not news at the Associated Press's national site, and it appears that the AP has not even carried a local story about Cochran's EEOC complaint — omissions that reek of…
Top Papers Bury Strong 62-36 Senate Vote for Keystone Pipeline
January 30th, 2015 11:55 AM
The nation’s leading newspapers buried the Senate’s strong 62-36 vote for the "controversial" Keystone XL pipeline inside Friday’s newspapers. Nine Democrats joined unanimous Republicans in setting up an Obama veto. Other stories seemed more interesting to the papers -- like the president's budget plans.

Media Yawn at Obama and Biden Snubbing Auschwitz; Mocked Cheney in '05
January 28th, 2015 1:33 AM
Tuesday marked the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz and, naturally, the event attracted plenty of media coverage. In addition to each of the three major networks devoting segments to it on their evening newscasts, both The Washington Post and The New York Times published stories on the topic.
Over on cable, CNN covered it multiple times throughout the day for a total of 10…
Shhh: Unionized Percentage of Workforce Is at an Over 100-Year Low
January 27th, 2015 10:02 PM
On Friday, Melissa Quinn at the Daily Signal, after the release of the government's "Union Members -- 2014" report, uniquely observed that the unionized percentage of the public- and private-sector nonagricultural wage and salary U.S. workforce had reached "its lowest rate in 100 years." From what I can tell in web and news searches, despite the fact that virtually any 100-year record is…

Nets Ignore Obama’s Backing Down From Plan to Tax College Savings
January 27th, 2015 9:19 PM
In a reversal of a key proposal from his State of the Union address, President Barack Obama moved on Tuesday to drop the plan to tax 529 college-savings accounts after outcry from members of both parties and a direct appeal on Air Force One from House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.).
When it came to the networks covering this backtracking by the President on this deeply unpopular idea…
NY Times Documents the GOP's Latest Brands of Sexist 'Hillary Hating'
January 24th, 2015 10:25 PM
New York Times reporter (and chief Hillary Clinton follower) Amy Chozick made an indignant defense of the Democratic front-runner in "Clinton Opponents Hone New Barbs and Attacks as 2016 Campaign Nears." She introduced the article, which dripped with anti-Republican sarcasm, with a vivid description on Twitter: "The cottage industry of Hillary hating has never gone out of business, but it has…
After Blackout Years, NYTimes Mentions March for Life to Embarrass GOP
January 23rd, 2015 9:48 PM
After years of virtually always failing to file a print news report on the March for Life, the New York Times this year ran a full half-sentence on the rally of tens of thousands in Washington, in a Jeremy Peters' report that used the march's existence solely to embarrass the Republican Party over its mishandling of an abortion bill.
D'oh! Rough Week For Corrections at the New York Times
January 23rd, 2015 6:45 PM
Some of its readers turn first to the op-ed pages, or the sports section, or the news out front. Then there are those who waste no time and get right to the corrections in the New York Times.
Aficionados of this journalistic art form were rewarded over the last few days with an array that was especially satisfying.
NY Times Admits Fox's Megyn Kelly Is a 'Breakthrough Artist'
January 23rd, 2015 2:26 PM
Sunday’s New York Times Magazine includes a generally favorable story on "The Megyn Kelly Moment" by Times reporter Jim Rutenberg (once a media-beat specialist).
Rutenberg acknowledged how throroughly Kelly dominates her time slot and is battling with Bill O’Reilly for the top of the cable-news mountain. Liberals are complaining about Kelly's positive press.
More on 'Myth' of 'No-Go Zones': Recognized Even Before the '05 Riots
January 22nd, 2015 5:28 PM
Earlier today (at NewsBusters; at BizzyBlog), I posted on the establishment press's apparent determination to punish anyone who dares to mention the existence — in their view, the "myth" — of "no-go zones" in France and other European countries.
The tactic seems to be working. The Washington Post's Erik Wemple, who criticized CNN for allowing guests to use the term and failing to challenge them…
