In “Insurgent,” last night's episode of Lifetime’s UnReal, racial tensions once again rear their ugly head - in a completely cynical, manufactured way, of course. 

The networks have long attacked Chick-fil-A for its management’s opposition to gay marriage. But when the food chain opened its doors (on a Sunday no less) for the LGBT community following the Orlando shooting, ABC, CBS and NBC didn’t say a word.

Horrific mass shooting? Time to push a political agenda. Although many high-profile figures have simply offered their prayers and condolences in the wake of this weekend’s tragic event in Orlando, plenty of gun-control crazy celebrities and politicians have predictably continued their anti-gun rhetoric. Monday night, Conan O’Brien used his platform to call for banning all assault rifles.

ThinkProgress LGBT Editor, Zach Ford, blames “conservative Christians” for the Orlando shooting, which tragically killed or injured over 100 people this past weekend. According to Ford, conservative Christians caused the shooting in two ways: by their own “violence” to the LGBT community and by their anti-Islamic sentiment, a “spark” for the attack.

CBS’s new dramedy BrainDead is a lefty political version of Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Set in DC with a government shutdown looming, alien ants from a meteor that crashed in Russia enter the ears of humans, push their brains out, and give them a different personality. The pilot episode is titled “The Insanity Principle: How Extremism In Politics Is Threatening Democracy In The 21st Century.”

Senior Justice Writer at the New York Daily News, Shaun King, discovered the cure for mass shootings: ban all white men. In response to the mass murder of 50 people this weekend by Omar Mateen, King tweeted: “We would cut mass shootings down by 75% if our nation banned all white men from this country. Wonder why nobody calls for that?”

While the national media is quick to condemn conservative politicians who oppose stricter gun laws for offering their “thoughts and prayers” to those many victims of the tragic Orlando shooting, the media has said little about the Muslim scholar, Sheikh Farrokh Sekaleshfar, who was preaching the death penalty for gays in Orlando this past April and, earlier, in 2013.

Shortly after Sunday’s atrocious shooting at an Orlando gay nightclub, both celebrities and journalists took to Twitter to bring up a completely separate issue: abortion. 

Politics in DC these days are so absurd that there can only be one explanation: brain-eating alien bugs. CBS’ new show BrainDead, premiering June 13th, is a political satire that blames unpopular Congressional actions on ant-like aliens infecting the minds of politicians. One of the show's stars bashed Ted Cruz as a way of defending its realism.
