On Monday's The 11th Hour, MSNBC host Stephanie Ruhle and never Trump Republican Mark McKinnon seemed to cheer for Democrats to aggressively gerrymander states like California against Republicans as both used the provocative expression "bring a gun to a knife fight" to describe the strategy.

During her Friday night opening monologue on The Briefing, MSNBC’s Jen Psaki theorized that President Trump was conspiring to “suppress the vote any way that he can.” She cited various loosely-related administration efforts and jumbled them together as proof of Trump attempting to wrongfully sway midterm results.

CNN’s Jake Tapper had on the seven-time Mr.Olympia and former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger to discuss partisan gerrymandering, among other topics, and got an earful when he tried to justify California’s gerrymandering referendum known as Prop 50. Tapper got a near-total recitation of Democrat partisan gerrymandering efforts in a way not normally seen on cable TV.

If this exchange between House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) and CBS’s Margaret Brennan is any indication, it would seem that some partisan gerrymandering is more acceptable than others. Ditto for the acceptability of talk of “rigged elections.”

The Atlantic staff writer David Frum joined PBS’s Amanpour and Company guest host Bianna Golodryga on Monday to react to the aftermath of the assassination of Charlie Kirk and used the opportunity to relight the Doomsday beacons that signify democracy itself is under threat from a president who would seek to mess with the 2026 midterm elections.

And on the 17th day, the legacy media finally got around to reporting the brutal murder of Ukrainian refugee Iryna Zarutska on board a Charlotte light rail. Rather than simply reporting the inconvenient story straight up, though, NBC saw fit to engage in a little Trumpwashing.

NBC’s Seth Meyers was in a good mood for a change during Wednesday’s Late Night. While Meyers accused Texas Republicans of trying “to rig the 2026 midterms” by redrawing the state’s congressional districts, he praised blue states for threatening to do the same, not realizing many are already more gerrymandered than Texas.
