The LGBT community is anything but monolithic—after all, its symbol is the rainbow. But when it comes to political ideology, Republicans often feel left out. While June is technically Pride Month, this year’s celebrations have focused more on resistance. And that, as NPR digital news intern Christianna Silva pointed out, has alienated many Trump supporters and right-leaning LGBT folks.

VH1 premiered its new scripted series Daytime Divas on Monday, June 6, with lots of drama, catfighting, and controversy. The show is based on the book Satan’s Sisters by Star Jones, former co-host of The View, and follows the lives of female daytime talk TV hosts of The Lunch Hour and their behind-the-scenes interactions.

Showtime’s new comedy I’m Dying Up Here premiered on Sunday, June 4. The show, produced by Jim Carrey, centers around a group of up and coming comics trying to become successful in the 1970s. Right off the bat, the show dove into the controversial topic of abortion, with the comic applauding the legalization of abortion. He encourages all the men to cheer, saying, "That's a big win for us, too."

When you set out to watch a show with a name like I Love Dick, Amazon Prime’s newest streaming series which debuted Friday, May 12, you should already be prepared for the shock value that’s inevitable with such a title. But nothing can truly prepare you for the vile filth that this show assaults you with.

The media have consistently demonstrated their nearly monolithic pro-LGBT slant and this week, USA Today's website used its weekly podcast recommendations to promote LGBT-related content. Published under their “ENTERTAiN THiS” section, the May 29 article (and updated May 30) wa titled, “Podcast picks ahead of Pride Month.”

The show was bigoted, vile and unfunny. The characters were one-dimensional, the gags were as obvious as they were offensive, and the entire thing never rose above predictable anti-Catholic, pro-gay agitprop. The ratings were bad and even the critics didn’t care for it. So of course ABC went ahead with development and then gave The Real O’Neals a second season.
