A major, woke activist group tied to leftist billionaire George Soros has been accused of “racial bias” despite making so-called “racial equity” a key component of its mission.
The Washington Post reported Mar. 15 that the LGBTQ fanatics at Human Rights Campaign have “‘amiably’ reached a confidential settlement with its former president, Alphonso David, who accused the group of racial bias after he was fired in 2021.” HRC posted a press release on its website acknowledging the agreement.
HRC claims that it treats “racial equity and inclusion as a cornerstone of our work,” but apparently that wasn’t woke enough to avoid accusations of racism. Soros’ Open Society Foundations (OSF) fueled HRC’s leftist public charity component, Human Rights Campaign Foundation, with at least $1,112,000 between 2016 and 2021.
The Post summarized David’s 2022 allegations against his former employer:
David responded months after his dismissal with a lawsuit alleging a ‘racist, biased culture’ at the HRC, and claiming that he had been fired ‘because he is Black.’ The HRC denied those claims, saying in court filings that the reasons for his firing were legitimate. The group said that a White board member had been dismissed during his tenure for making ‘several comments believed to be inappropriate.’
The Post noted that this was the latest development since HRC was “thrown into turmoil after disclosures about David’s role in helping” then-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) “respond to allegations that he had sexually harassed a subordinate.”
The news of the settled “racial bias” lawsuit is certainly embarrassing for Soros, who has made a philanthropic career of exploiting racial strife in order to cast himself as a social justice hero.
In 2020, Soros pledged $220 million to push so-called “racial justice” amidst the George Floyd riots. New York Times national political reporter Astead Herndon cheered Soros’ involvement in racial politics, writing that Soros’ $220 million commitment signaled “the extent to which race and identity have become the explicit focal point of American politics in recent years, with no sign of receding.” His most recent donation to the HRC Foundation was a $1,000,000 grant in 2021. He probably should ask for a refund.
Soros is also not the only person who should be humiliated by this development. In fact, many of HRC’s corporate partners are notorious for shoving woke environmental, social and governance (ESG) standards down corporate America’s throat and are now put in an awkward position. Apparently, per David’s logic, HRC failed by its own nutty, leftist standards on race.
So what does that mean for the ESG corporate elites who allied themselves with the organization? Some of HRC’s “platinum partners” include the following:
HRC is also the same woke group who railed against the more than 400 percent rise in references to “grooming” and “pedophile” on social media after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R) signed the Parental Rights in Education Act. The bill prohibited schools from teaching sexual orientation and gender identity to kindergarteners through third grade students.
