A May analysis found Apple News heavily favored left-leaning sources when covering GOP primaries, promoting five times more leftist articles than right-leaning ones. Most headlines negatively framed Trump-endorsed candidates, while coverage from right-leaning outlets was minimal, highlighting ongoing bias concerns despite previous warnings from the FTC.

EXCLUSIVE: The most influential digital news aggregators continue deciding which outlets get seen and who gets ignored. Fresh evidence collected by the Media Research Center further corroborates that left-leaning outlets remain the primary beneficiaries.

Website traffic for Newsweek, Al Jazeera, and The Minnesota Star Tribune closely mirrored how often their stories were promoted on top news aggregators—Apple News, Google News, and MSN. When promotion increased, so did traffic; when it dropped, audience numbers also fell, showing the outsized influence these digital gatekeepers have on major media outlets’ visibility.
