This week marks the 800th anniversary of the Magna Carta “one of the most important documents in human history” and on Monday, ABC’s Good Morning America and NBC’s Today apparently felt their viewers don't appreciate a key part of world history and skipped the event altogether. 

While all three broadcast networks hailed Bruce Jenner for choosing to switch genders and become Caitlyn Jenner just one week ago – devoting 48 minutes to the story in three days – on Friday, those same networks were aghast that Spokane, Washington NAACP leader Rachel Dolezal had chosen to identify herself as black despite being white.

New York City underwater? Gas over $9 a gallon? A carton of milk costs almost $13? Welcome to June 12,  2015. At least those were the wildly-inaccurate predictions made by ABC News exactly seven years ago. Appearing on Good Morning America in 2008, Bob Woodruff hyped Earth 2100, a special that pushed apocalyptic predictions of the then-futuristic 2015. 

On Thursday morning, ABC and NBC continued their blackout of the Obama administration’s plan to use the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate the airline industry’s greenhouse gas emissions. 

Despite President Obama making the stunning admission at the G7 Summit on Monday that the U.S. still lacks a “complete strategy” to combat ISIS, NBC’s Today and ABC’s Good Morning America ignored the news on Tuesday. Instead, both network morning shows promoted a social media meme about a photo of Obama and German Chancellor Angela Merkel.

Good Morning America is not a serious news show. But even by the loose standards of ABC, the program's journalists set a new standard for cynicism. NBC News censored itself on Sunday, after it broadcast the "have a nice day" message left by two prison escapees from New York State on Today. The Post-It note included a caricature of an East Asian man with slanted eyes, a bucktooth grin, and wearing a stereotypical conical hat. After providing minimal coverage of former Texas Republican Governor Rick Perry’s 2016 announcement on Thursday night, ABC and NBC moved on from the story all together with zero mentions of Perry or the 2016 campaign on their Friday morning newscasts.
