Free college tuition is the big cause célèbre on the left these days, with Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders getting a lot of support on the issue from people who don't understand that "free college" costs at least $70 billion. So, of course, ABC’s Scandal has to get in on the action to push it just like it has promoted gun control, Black Lives Matter, and Planned Parenthood funding…

NBC's new show about the end of the world, You, Me and the Apocalypse, is a bit of a mixed bag when it comes to morality. In reality, much of the questionable material wouldn't be Earth shattering (pun intended) were the show on at a later time. But let's give credit where it is due first.

Mom – the CBS series devoted to tales of addiction and recovery told with an attempt at humor – deals with an unexpected death by drug overdose in “Diabetic Lesbians and a Blushing Bride.” The story ended in a Public Service Announcement (PSA) featuring the stars of the show and the U.S. Surgeon General, Dr. Vivek H. Murthy.

“Killin’ it” should never be a joke – at least not an abortion joke. A “Madeleine Roe” recently wrote out “20 Tips for Your First Abortion” for literary magazine Paper Darts. From comparing the cost of a Beyoncé concert to an abortion to joking about “killin’ it,” many of the tips were crass and crude – as well as heartbreakingly sad.

Well, it ain’t “Macaca,” or a racist rock in the Texas wilderness, but you can’t say The Washington Post isn’t trying. Instead of George Allen or Rick Perry, the target is Jeb Bush.

The holes in the vetting system for Syrian refugees are not a popular topic in the Huffington Post or on former Daily Show correspondent Samantha Bee’s new show. The Huffington Post linked to Upworthy’s article about the second episode of Full Frontal with Samantha Bee Monday in which Bee showcased her trip to Jordan where she interviewed Syrian refugees.

Mic.com’s Zak Cheney-Rice rolled his eyes at frustration from parents whose kids were shown a racially charged cartoon meant to show the unfairness of white privilege. Kids at Glen Allen High School in Glen Allen, Virginia this month were shown “The Unequal Opportunity Race” in honor of Black History Month.

It's pretty safe to say the best scene of “Two Chainz,” the season three premiere of Broad City, was where Ben Affleck looked really serious. No wait, that was a Batman v Superman commercial.  I guess if you are Comedy Central and your biggest hit is a cartoon where rape is funny because it is being done to a Republican (South Park), your standards are obviously not very high.

On Tuesday’s The View, Joy Behar lashed out at Republicans for daring to not accept an Obama nominee to replace Antonin Scalia: “It’s almost like they’re not being patriotic, it seems to me. This man has had so much [unintelligible] from this Congress, it’s outrageous. And I have to say it – I know it’s not popular to say it – but his color has something to do with it.” Behar soon doubled down: “…

Salon took a break from its usual anti-conservative drift to acknowledge a tribute by late night comedian Stephen Colbert to Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who passed away on Saturday. “He was universally acknowledged to be an intellectual giant who left his mark not only on the court, but on how to interpret the Constitution,” Colbert said. 

50 Shades of Gray star Dakota Johnson is booked to do a sequel, 50 Shades Darker despite the toll she said the first movie took on her love life. Johnson said the role of Anastasia Steele in the erotic film about a BDSM relationship made men scared of her since they thought she might actually be interested in that type of relationship in her personal life.

Hulu's latest mini-series “11.22.63” released its first of eight episodes this week and honestly... it's excellent so far. Based on the book by Stephen King and produced by J. J. Abrams how could it be anything but good? Even James Franco, who plays the main character Jake Epping, is unusually decent.

"Journalistic integrity" and "Mother Jones" are two phrases that should not be in the same sentence. But alas, the ABC comedy Fresh Off the Boat has lent some gravitas to the infamous lefty rag. 

Despite a completely gratuitous shower scene in the opening of NBC’s Chicago Med episode “Clarity,” the story includes a nice (and rare) touch for network television – a nod to a patriotic American proud of his service to his country despite his own personal struggles.
