Hollywood is notoriously liberal, but the New York theater scene isn’t far behind. With a three-hour awards ceremony, politics was bound to slip in, especially in a contentious election year. Here are the top five political moments of this year’s Tony Awards.

It also has heart. During Fox & Friends Thursday, co-host Ainsley Earhardt turned to the viral story of a mother who penned a “powerful message” to the doctor that suggested she abort her baby with Down syndrome. Earhardt invited the mother, Courtney Baker, on the show with her now 15-month-old daughter Emersyn (Emmy). 

To combat the “media’s” unrealistic body images, BuzzFeed put on “Body Positivity Week” this past May. Capping off the plethora of articles about body shaming, BuzzFeed took photos of four “ordinary” guys (a comedy group, The Try Guys) imitating the poses of well-sculpted celebrities. Unfortunately, one media outlet – BuzzFeed – failed to get the message.

It’s about time kids got some LGBT propaganda. According to Huffington Post LGBT “Queer Voices” Deputy Editor James Michael Nichols, new cartoons on Hulu featuring gay heroes and lesbian heroines are providing some much-needed children’s education.

Lifetime’s second season of UnReal premiered this week and it is an all-too-real, sad commentary on our culture. The scripted drama shows a behind-the-scenes look at the cutthroat making of a The Bachelor-type reality dating show called Everlasting where producers go to extremes to manipulate cast members for ratings.

The major news networks have a double standard on what qualifies as a “war on women.” On Thursday rioters at Donald Trump’s San Jose, Calif. rally cornered a female Trump supporter pelting her with eggs and other objects screaming “F**k Trump” at her and waving Mexican flags in her face.

The greatest love stories center on two people willing to make any sacrifice to be together, no matter the cost. Even in Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare’s lovers unite in death to prevent separation. But, now, Hollywood has decided to crush the traditional love story – a You Before Me story – in favor of a Me Before You tale. 

ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith jumped the shark quite some time ago. However, this may take the cake. On Tuesday’s edition of First Take on ESPN2, Smith took strong exception with Brock Osweiler, the former Bronco, and current Houston Texans quarterback. Osweiler opted to not attend the Broncos visit to the White House on Monday, and instead spent the time at OTA’s with his new team.

The Washington Post’s Anthony Faiola is worried about Germany. Actually, he’s worried about the thousands of Muslim refugees inundating the country and “testing the national will to protect minority rights adopted after World War II.”
