Marvel's Teen Drama: 'Whole Country's Trying to Kill' Black People
Culture
June 21st, 2018 11:40 PM
Freeform is known for having its overblown, progressive teen dramas, so Marvel’s Cloak & Dagger using the phrase “check your privilege” only mildly annoyed me. Following up with the belief that "this whole country's trying to kill [black people] every day," however, is where I would hope to draw the line.

CBS’s left-leaning The Good Fight surprisingly questioned the validity of the #MeToo movement and the Black Lives Matter movement in its latest episode. Sunday's episode, “Day 478,” referred to both movements as starting out with good causes, but eventually turning into mobs. The episode also accused President Trump’s tax cuts of being bad for the poor.

Syfy’s new series Krypton tells the story of Superman’s grandfather Seg-El (Cameron Cuffe) on his home planet of Krypton. It takes place approximately 200 years before that planet's destruction and follows their alien culture. That being said, the show apparently still has the time to shoe-horn a police brutality scene for us present-day Earthlings, as if any of us were begging for it.

Jonathan Capehart admitted in today’s paper, that the survey’s results were “alarming” and “worrisome” because they revealed white millennials weren’t as virulently anti-Trump or radically liberal in their political…

Taking a left-wing angle on “climate change,” New York Times reporter Yamiche Alcindor swerved into radical racial ideas on black victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. The season finale of Fox’s race-baiting drama, Shots Fired, “Hour 10: Last Dance,” continued with its black=good, white=bad theme as it ended with this conclusion: it’s always about race. Wednesday night’s resolution was completely predictable. The black police officer, who was justified in killing unarmed white teenager Jesse Carr, is indicted. But there is no indictment for the wealthy white…

Wednesday night's episode of Fox's Shots Fired, "Hour 9: Come to Jesus," continued to build on its storyline in which wealthy white donors are furnished with guns and tasers – as part of the "Tours" program—and take part in ride-alongs with racist police in the fictional town of Gate Station, North Carolina. To recap, a wealthy white donor executed black teenager Joey Campbell while he was…

The controversial Netflix series Dear White People was finally released on Friday, April 28, and let me tell you, the "dear" in the title is NOT a term of endearment.
