Then-Today co-host Katie Couric was SO excited about the opportunity to bash Ronald Reagan that she mangled a statement by biographer Edmund Morris. Couric opened the September 27, 1999 Today with this: “Good Morning. The Gipper was an airhead!” Two days later, Morris shot this down: “Oh, good God no! He was a very bright man.” 

Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh has been accused by two women of sexual misconduct and their claims are flimsy to say the least (particularly, the people the accusers claim were witnesses say he either wasn’t there or the parties didn’t happen). But for Lyin’ Dan Rather, the facts don’t matter, which explained why he pompously declared the Republican Party dead if they confirmed him.

Despite no evidence to back up the allegations of attempted sexual assault by Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh, the liberal media were eager to make them stick. NBC reporter Andrea Mitchell is celebrating 40 years with NBC News and appeared on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show to discuss the milestone. Host Trevor Noah suggested the killings of five reporters in Annapolis could be laid at President Trump’s door (he wasn’t joking). Mitchell demurred, but denounced Trump for calling the media the “enemy of the people.” 

Dan Rather appeared on CNN Tonight on Friday. Host Don Lemon engaged the broadcaster in a discussion centered around who could be more outraged at the Trump presidency. Rather took the lead when he called the current administration “straight out of Orwell.”

For some reason, CNN decided that it would air the latest installment of its comprehensive and informative miniseries on recent decades in America history with the 2000s despite the fact that many of the same actors, elected officials, journalists, and TV shows remained relevant into this decade.

While liberal journalists are pooh-poohing in advance any sort of success Donald Trump may have with his summit with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, that wasn’t the case back in 1994 when Bill Clinton struck a that would have supposedly resolved the nuclear threat from North Korea.

Sometimes liberal journalists just come right out and admit it. On May 27, 1993, Dan Rather told Bill Clinton that he and then-CBS Evening News partner Connie Chung hoped to be as “great” as Clinton and the First Lady. Rather gushed, “Tell Mrs. Clinton we respect her and we’re pulling for here.” Keep in mind, this was FOUR MONTHS into Clinton's presidency. 

Talk about a character witness. There was a time before Dan Rather was known as the “disgraced” ex-CBS Evening News journalist. But even before he used phony documents in an attempt to torpedo George W. Bush, Rather had a questionable link to the truth. On May 15, 2001, he proclaimed Bill Clinton an “honest” man, saying, “I think you can be an honest person and lie about any number of things.”
