Iowa Republicans have decided to lay down the law against Big Tech censorship and have joined the growing list of state legislatures fighting against abuses by Big Tech. Iowa State Representatives Jon Jacobsen (R), Anne Osmundson (R), and Skyler Wheeler (R) have introduced a bill to discourage and potentially penalize social media platforms that engage in online censorship.

Arizona has joined the growing number of states fighting back against Big Tech tyranny, but Apple and Google have reportedly not taken this affront to their power lying down. Arizona State Rep. Regina Cobb (R) introduced H.B. 2005, a bill aimed at fighting Big Tech dominance by allowing app developers to circumvent the massive fees that Apple and Google take from app sales.

Yet another state legislature has stepped up to fight rampant Big Tech censorship. Nebraska State Senator Curt Friesen (R) introduced the Social Media Fairness Act into the Nebraska state legislature last month, and the legislative body held a hearing for it Feb. 25. The bill stated that its aim was to curtail the power of “dominant social media web site[s].”

Guerrilla journalism outlet Project Veritas leaked shocking footage from an alleged Salesforce meeting. The video purported to show a meeting of high ranking employees vow that their services will ban messaging from former President Donald Trump and rhetoric questioning the 2020 election.

In retaliation to a proposed law in Australia that would require tech giants like Facebook and Google to pay for news content on their platforms, Facebook blocked all local and global news sites from Australia. Facebook’s Australian news blackout ended after five days when the two sides came to an agreement.
