MRC’s Gainor RIPS Disgraced CNN Anchor Chris Cuomo for ‘Wild Violation of Journalistic Ethics’

Media Research Center Vice President Dan Gainor went on Fox Business to dismantle disgraced liberal CNN host Chris Cuomo for his blatant violation of journalistic ethics concerning his brother.

CNN had suspended Cuomo indefinitely for abusing his position to coordinate on political strategy with his scandal-ridden brother, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo. In addition, records released by the New York Attorney General’s office indicated that Chris Cuomo wielded his media “‘sources’” and “‘other journalists’” to investigate the women who had accused his brother of sexual harassment, according to USA Today. Gainor summed up Chris Cuomo’s malfeasance during the Dec. 1 edition of Mornings with Maria: “It’s a wild violation of journalistic ethics.”

According to Gainor, the less action CNN takes to address the situation, the more it creates a perception that the network doesn’t care about sexual harassment. Women who publicly criticize the network are in the precarious situation of going “toe-to-toe” with CNN President Jeff Zucker and the network’s most popular anchor, Gainor said.

If “you add the context that [Chris Cuomo] himself was accused of sexual harassment in September, and this puts — I would think this puts women at CNN really in an uncomfortable position,” Gainor said, adding this is both a “sex harassment scandal and a journalistic scandal.”

Fellow guest and Former President Donald Trump’s Deputy National Security Advisor KT McFarland noted the hypocrisy of Chris Cuomo’s behavior:. “I guess it just points out the hypocrisy of the left. And it’s not just a CNN issue.” She continued: They talk about women’s rights and all the rest while they’re doing something like this and covering it up with sexual harassment.”

McFarland said the scandal “speaks to a much bigger problem in society, where it’s ‘Do what I say. Don’t do what I do.’”

Gainor said McFarland’s comments were “spot-on.” He proceeded to point out that “we expect politicians to lie. I think that goes with the job. But we expect journalists to hold to a higher standard. [Cuomo] stepped all over the Society of Professional Journalists [SPJ] Code of Ethics.”

The SPJ Code of Ethics clearly states that journalists should “[a]void conflicts of interest, real or perceived.” In addition, journalists should “avoid political and other outside activities that may compromise integrity or impartiality, or may damage credibility.” Chris Cuomo apparently didn’t get the memo.
