Fact-checking fact-checkers

PolitiFact is well known for hammering conservatives far harder than liberals. We have offered a series of studies showing the tilt of their "Truth-O-Meter." What happens when they attempt to flag a conservative group for falsehood...and then walk away? Let us speak from some of our own recent experience.

Just like PolitiFact and other “fact check” outfits, the Reuters Fact Check team tried to take apart conservative arguments against H.R. 1, the so-called “For the People Act.” A Facebook post by Freedom Works made claims Reuters insisted were “partly false” – by finding liberal professors to quibble the fine points. Facebook posted "Missing Context" over the post. 

Washington Post "Fact Checker" Glenn Kessler surprised readers on Thursday by throwing "Four Pinocchios" at President Biden over his claims that Georgia's Republicans would "end voting at five o'clock when working people are just getting off work."

PolitiFact “pounced” on former McConnell chief of staff Josh Holmes for his defense of the new Georgia election-integrity law on Fox News Sunday. They've been very aggressive in defending the left's "voting rights" talking points and attacking "restrictive" Republican proposals, and they ruled Holmes was "Mostly False."

The Democrat-favoring "fact checker" websites are hard at work spinning for H.R. 1, the shameless attempt to federalize elections under the banner of "voting rights." Alayna Treene of the Washington-insider website Axios reported the National Republican Senatorial Committee will launch a "seven-figure ad campaign...targeting Democrats' effort to expand voting."

Just how stupid does PolitiFact think Americans are? Why do they “fact check” ridiculous videos few would believe about Joe Biden? They had to rush in and say it's "Pants On Fire" to suggest Joe Biden isn't a human being. 

Snopes.com has a habit of running to Biden's defense, even when the "facts" aren't exactly making Biden look good. Take Biden clearly bumbling and not being able to recall the name of his own Defense Secretary. Snopes somehow suggested this was in some sort of doubt under the headline "Did Biden Forget Defense Secretary Austin’s Name?" 

Citing the usual (liberal) curiosity of their readers, Dan McGuill of Snopes picked on a recent Franklin Graham letter on the so-called "Equality Act" and how it infringes on the independence of churches, now defined as "public accommodations" like a restaurant or hotel.

You can tell a "fact checker" is marching to the drumbeat of the libertine left when they labor to deny the biological fact that the overwhelming majority of humans are born as either boys or girls. On Sunday, CNN’s “Reliable Sources” proved once again to be a hotbed of misinformation as PolitiFact editor-in-chief Angie Drobnic Holan worked to prop up Democratic New York Governor Andrew Cuomo’s lies about nursing home deaths. Snopes went first among liberal "fact checkers" in defending Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez against conservative critics of her Instagram Live testimony about the trauma of the Capitol riot, but other aggressive defenders followed, at AP and PolitiFact and The Washington Post. Only CNN decided to flag AOC for saying some unproven things. 

Amanda Prestigiacomo at the Daily Wire pointed out the incredible elasticity of "fact checking" in a "Two Pinocchios" slam on Senator Ted Cruz from Salvador Rizzo of the Washington Post "Fact Checker" squad.

Seeing Susan Rice at the White House podium in 2021, a friend of mine suggested Rice has never been “fact-checked.” Well, that can’t be, I thought. Then I went to the PolitiFact website, which strangely had a Susan Rice page....but not a single “fact check” of Rice, even though PolitiFact was founded in 2007 and Rice worked for Obama from 2009 to 2017.

Glenn Kessler and his Washington Post “Fact Checker” squad celebrated their end-of-term count of President Trump’s “false and misleading statements” – 30,573.
