The View Denies Nashville Shooter Hated Christians and Was Mentally Ill

March 29th, 2023 2:29 PM

As it became clearer that the shooter who shot and killed six people (including three kids) at a Christian school in Nashville, Tennessee, was a mentally ill transgender extremist who hated Christians, the liberal ladies of ABC’s The View spent Wednesday denying reality. Between co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg denying the female shooter had it out for Christians and Sunny Hostin denying that mass shooters are mentally ill, ABC seemed out to poison the national discourse with disinformation.

At the top of the show, they played a soundbite of Missouri Republican Senator Josh Hawley announcing that he was putting forth a resolution to have the Senate denounce the attack as a hate crime on Christians. This was scoffed at by Goldberg. “Okay. I mean, look, some people are using this as an excuse to demonize the transgender community. I mean, crazy stuff,” she whined, adding it was “wee-ing in the wind.”

Towards the end of the segment, Goldberg flew off the handle as she lashed out at those who dared to admit the attacker specifically targeted Christians and warned them not to mention her transgenderism:

I heard one guy say, "Well, this is against the Christians.” No, it's not against the Christians. Because you would have mentioned it when they went into the black church. And you would have this was an issue we should be thinking about, but you didn’t! So, let’s not do that. Let’s not make it – Let’s not make it about transgender people.

What Goldberg was demanding was that we deny the reality that the shooter left behind a manifesto that reportedly shows she had a history with the school and targeted it specifically. The shooter’s writings had drawings and maps planning the attack.

Reports also document that the shooter was being treated for a mental illness. But racist Hostin, who admitted she has “many mentally ill people” in her family, shouted that mental illness should not be considered when observing the similarities between mass shooters.

“They are more likely to be the victims of crime than be criminals. That is a fact, and it has been studied for over 60 years,” she shrieked. “I am sick of people conveniently saying ‘this is a mental health issue’ or ‘you can't look at this issue without mental health.’ This is an AR-15-style weapon, issue.”

Self-described conservative, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin pushed back and asked Hostin if the shooter’s actions demonstrated she was in a “sound” mental state. Hostin refused to answer, she instead deflected to AR-15s:

FARAH GRIFFIN: Do you think this person was of sound mind?

HOSTIN: That is not the point.

SARA HAINES: I don't think anyone is in sound mind that does something like this.

FARAH GRIFFIN: But it is because both things matter.

HOSTIN: The point is if she did not have access to these weapons those three 9-year-olds would be in school today!

“But she could have also had access to mental health treatment,” Farah Griffin countered. Co-host Sara Haines agreed, noting that “Alyssa's making an important point, to say both things can be true.”

It’s worth noting that Hostin is not a mentally stable person herself.

The View’s demand that you ignore reality and the facts was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from General Mills and Macy’s. Their contact information is linked.

[Cuts back to live]

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: Okay. I mean, look, some people are using this as an excuse to demonize the transgender community. I mean, crazy stuff. So, is this once again – Are we just "wee-ing" in the wind?

And you would have this was an issue we should be thinking about, but you didn’t! So, let’s not do that. Let’s not make it – Let’s not make it about transgender people. Let’s not make it about anything but what it is: we with have a problem with this gun, and its accessibility in this country.

HOSTIN: And I don't want to hear one House Republican talk about mental health. Because 210 House Republicans voted against the American Rescue Plan, which provided $12 billion to address mental health needs arising from the pandemic!
