Seeing as how the liberal media were incensed by Friday’s positive jobs report, PBS’s Yamiche Alcindor and NBC’s Peter Alexander decided to downplay it by shouting obnoxious questions at President Trump following remarks in the Rose Garden. Apparently, the report, which revealed the unemployment rate fell to 13.3 percent in May, wasn’t that important.
At one point, Alexander sought to use a logical fallacy and tie the jobs report to George Floyd’s murder: “How would a better economy have protected George Floyd?”
The President spoke for roughly 40 minutes before sitting down to sign a bill loosening restrictions on the Paycheck Protection Program, aimed mostly at small businesses. Naturally, the female Jim Acosta had to interject and wonder why he doesn’t “have a plan for systemic racism.”
Reminder, this is the White House correspondent supposedly working on behalf of we, the people as an employee of taxpayer-funded PBS.
An annoyed Trump responded:
I’d like to sign this bill. This is a very different thing and by the way, what’s happened to our country and what you now see, it’s been happening, is the greatest thing that could happen for race relations, for the African-American community, for the Asian-American, for the Hispanic-American community, for women, for everything cause our country’s so strong. And that’s why my plan is. We’re going to have the strongest economy in the world. We almost are there now, but we had the strongest economy anywhere in the world, and now we're going to have an economy that’s even stronger.
Alcindor changed gears, shouting at Trump about how “black unemployment went up” while Alexander asked that truly pathetic question invoking Floyd’s name which, to Trump’s credit, didn’t result in him being booted from the event.
Instead, Trump repeatedly told both to let him “sign this” legislation first. It should be noted that the President didn’t formally take questions afterward.
Continuing to dismiss the report, Alcindor cited slight increases in two unemployment demographics and that led Trump to briefly return fire:
ALCINDOR: Black unemployment went up by one — by 0.1 percent. Asian-Americans unemployment up 0.5 percent. [TRUMP SHAKES HEAD] How is that a victory? [TRUMP WAVES HAND AT HER]
TRUMP: You are something else.
ALCINDOR: How is that a victory?
