Appearing as a guest on Sunday's Reliable Sources on CNN, former PBS NewsHour anchor Jim Lehrer -- known for moderating a number of general election presidential debates in the past -- declared that he watches both CNN and MSNBC "a lot," but did not mention Fox News as part of his "well-rounded news diet."
As the PBS veteran appeared to discuss this year's election coverage, CNN host Brian Stelter asked him about his sources of news: "So what news do you seek out? What programs do you watch? What are you reading?"
After beginning by naming his former PBS program, inspiring amusement from both him and Stelter, he only specified the more left-leaning cable news sources as he added: "I follow the daily newspapers, and I watch CNN a lot. And I watch MSNBC a lot."
After Stelter injected, "A well-rounded news diet, huh?" Lehrer continued:
Yeah, yeah. Event coverage. You know, this election, these elections change, and there are so many events -- not only debates, but town halls and interviews and all kinds of things. A lot of stuff to watch. And I don't watch all of it, but I am very interested in -- I've been involved professionally in all this for years, but I'm still, even though I'm not anymore, I'm still interested in all of it, so I follow all of it.
