Morning Joe

Over the past several days, the media have been displaying a classic example of their double standard in which police shooting stories receive attention. If it bolsters the liberal narrative that police violence is motivated by racism, it is much more likely to receive attention than if a questionable case of police violence involves a white victim.

On Morning Joe, Mika Brzezinski quotes from her hubby's latest Washington Post column in which he wrote that "many working-class Americans have been voting against their own economic interests for so long," by which he meant, voting for Republicans. That is a notion popularized in the book What's the Matter with Kansas? by leftist author Thomas Frank.

"Donald Trump says he didn't want Americans to panic. No, he just wanted to sit by and watch them die." 

Morning Joe regular and Princeton professor Eddie Glaude Jr. says that people who prefer President Trump "because Joe Biden and the radical left will jeopardize their economic well-being, their 401(k)s and the like" are acting out of "selfishness and self-interest." 

On Morning Joe, Al Sharpton expresses opposition to defunding the New York City police, saying it's something for "latte liberals" in the Hamptons. Joe Scarborough grudgingly admits things were safer in NYC under Mayor Rudy Giuliani. Willie Geist says he still feels safe in NYC, and that crime statistics are not up -- except for "shootings and murder."

On Morning Joe, Axios co-founder Jim VandeHei warns of a right-wing media "infrastructure" that is focused on violence in the streets.  He warns that its impact could eventually be reflected in the polls. 

Willie Geist suggests to activist Errin Haines that images of violence in the streets is affecting voters, notably those in the suburbs, who don't want that coming to their neighborhoods.  He asks how the Biden campaign is doing in responding to the issue. On Morning Joe, a hate-fueled Joe Scarborough slams First Lady Melania Trump as "shameless, absolutely shameless" for having criticized, in her speech at the second night of the RNC convention, people who are mean on social media, while she did not criticize President Trump's past tweets about Mika and Joe.

On Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough calls the speakers at the opening night of the RNC convention "cranks and misfits." On CNN's New Day, a Yahoo News "reporter" calls Joe Biden and Kamala Harris "super-centrist."

Gag me with a Shining City! On Morning Joe, Joe Scarborough slobbers over Joe Biden's acceptance speech at the DNC convention, repeatedly referring to it as "Reaganesque" as he hyped the "corruption" under Trump as demonstrated by the indictment of Steve Bannon on the cusp of Biden's speech. 

Kamala Harris laid an egg last night. In Morning Joe's opening segment, Mika Brzezinski and Willie Geist couldn't really find any words of praise for Harris' acceptance speech at the DNC convention. They turned to a Quibi commentator (and NBC News alum) Shawna Thomas instead, and the best she could come up with was to say that Harris did "an admirable job" of reintroducing herself in…
