In a heated interview today on CNN, Joseph D. McBride, the lawyer for Capitol breach defendant Richard 'Bigo' Barnett—famously seen with his feet on a desk on Nancy Pelosi's office—condemned  the conditions of detention for the defendants, labeling them "D.C. Guantanamo Bay," and repeatedly accused the authorities of "torture."

Remember when the media joined Democrats in condemning the filibuster as an outdated practice that only gummed up the legislative process? Evidently journalists don’t, because when Democratic state legislators from Texas fled their state last Monday to sabotage the passage of a bill they didn’t like, they became the national news media’s heroes of the week.

CNN announced with great fanfare they're creating a "CNN Plus" streaming subscription service, but an executive bizarrely claimed “No, it’s not going to be ideological....We’re just not in that game. We’re not an opinion network, we’re a news network."

Four years ago, author Michael Wolff came on Brian Stelter's Reliable Sources show and told him off. On Sunday, Stelter brought it back up: "You called me ridiculous." Stelter implied Wolff gained access to the Trump White House by bashing CNN. So Wolff unloaded on him again: "you are full of sanctimony....you are why one of the reasons people can't stand the media."

CNN State of the Union host Dana Bash lived up to her last name on Sunday morning, bashing Fox News (and Newsmax) as a lethal threat. Playing off President Biden's rant that Facebook is "killing people" with COVID misinformation, Bash asked Surgeon General Vivek Murthy if "conservative media like Fox News" are killing people. "Trash first," not facts first.

On his Thursday night show, CNN host Chris Cuomo attacked Sen. Ron Johnson (R-Wis.) as a "misinformation spreader" that's "fearmongering about the border....I just don't see any other way to say it other than the Party of Trump is banking on BS. Republican leadership doesn't care about the threat of toxic talk." But it's Cuomo's argument that flounders on the facts.

This isn’t rocket science —  unless you are in the liberal news media. Two polls in a row, one from Reuters and one from Gallup, are confirming that millions of Americans (and others!) have little to zero trust in the mainstream American news media. Fox News explains: "Only 16 percent of respondents said they had a lot of confidence in television news." 

During a Friday segment of Cuomo Prime Time on vaccine hesitancy and disinformation, namesake host Chris Cuomo spread some disinformation of his own by insinuating Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is encouraging people not to get vaccinated against COVID-19.

CNN's resident "reality checker" John Avlon joined CNN Newsroom on Wednesday to say that whether or not liberal Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer retires is a choice for him to make, but that he is still being reckless for not considering politics in that decision.

On Thursday's New Day show, CNN again catered to concerns by liberals who are worried that President Joe Biden will miss the chance to appoint a liberal to replace Stephen Breyer unless the Supreme Court justice retires in an hurry.  Chief legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin even went into a rant against Justice Breyer for refusing to retire at age 82.
