During their evening news coverage Wednesday NBC and CBS championed Senate Democrat Chris Murphy’s (Ct.) filibuster for movement on gun control legislation. Reporter Peter Alexander praised Murphy’s actions as, “a filibuster fueled by frustration,” on NBC’s Nightly News. “Democrats commandeering the Senate floor, trying to force a vote to toughen up gun laws,” Alexander continued. 

Stephen Colbert stooped to a new low on Tuesday night when he connected Donald Trump to Naziism and used a swastika to represent the businessman’s beliefs. In a so-called comedy bit, the Late Show host used a chalkboard to mock Trump’s attacks on Barack Obama. As he began to draw the Nazi insignia, Colbert yelled, “Trump is saying Obama is not smart because he won't say radical Islam.”

During their Tuesday night broadcast of Evening News CBS directed the blame for the Orlando terrorist attack towards American Christians, even though it was carried out by a pledged member of the Islamic State. To ease into the Christian bashing host Scott Pelley stated, “There has been so much progress for the LGBT Community, but we are now reminded that fear is still a constant reality.”

On Tuesday, both NBC’s Today and CBS This Morning actually promoted an offensive temper tantrum thrown by congressional Democrats in the House of Representatives on Monday during what was supposed to be a moment of silence in memory of the victims of the Orlando terrorist attack.

On Monday night and Tuesday morning, the “big three” networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC offered multiple segments decrying presumptive Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump for revoking press credentials from The Washington Post while having the exact opposite reaction to three newspapers being banned from the Obama campaign press plane in 2008.
