So. Over at The Washington Post this week, I see that columnist Callum Borchers is upset with me. The reason, it seems, is that in an appearance on CNN’s Reliable Sources with Brian Stelter I had the audacity to say the following in a discussion about the current fashion of “fact checking” in the media.

CBS’ American Gothic took an unnecessary swipe at Republican legislators in its second episode, “Jack-in-the-Pulpit.” When Alison (Juliet Rylance) bemoans her inability to keep her thorn-in-the-side brother, Garrett Hawthorne (Antony Starr), from mouthing off at the podium, Naomi (Maureen Sebastian) helpfully suggests taking a page from the “Republican’s voter suppression tactics.”

For the second day in a row, CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King on Friday touted the most innocent explanation for a secret meeting between Bill Clinton and Attorney General Loretta Lynch, despite the fact that the AG is in the middle of an FBI investigation of Hillary Clinton. Not seeing the problem, King sputtered, “It's almost like this is being treated like this is a House of Cards scene.” 

In a display of awe and admiration, the cast of CBS This Morning were stunned to learn of the “generosity and trust” of Canadian families who currently host Syrian refugees in Toronto. During the interview with New York Times reporter Jodi Kantor, the hosts were excited to hear of the friendly and open Canadians while painting Americans (primarily Republicans) as “fearful” and Islamophobic.

Thursday’s CBS This Morning was already on a roll as they dismissed Attorney General Loretta Lynch “innocent” meeting with former President Bill Clinton when they dug themselves further into the hole of liberal media bias as they giggled in pleading with an investment company guest to be Hillary Clinton’s Treasury Secretary under the assumption she becomes president.

Apparently following up on his Washington Post column earlier this week, the paper's Chris Cillizza appeared on Thursday's Morning Joe show and observed that Hillary Clinton has "large-scale problems on honesty and trustworthines," that "she is the status quo" and "represents the past." While credit goes to Thursday’s CBS This Morning for leading the broadcast with the controversy swirling around Bill Clinton having a 30-minute private meeting with Attorney General Loretta Lynch amid the FBI investigation to Hillary Clinton’s e-mail scandal, the hosts of the morning show proceeded to dismiss the suspicious incident as an “innocent” encounter.

ABC and NBC on Wednesday and Thursday ignored the highly suspicious news that Bill Clinton had a secret meeting this week with Attorney General Loretta Lynch. This as the Justice Department and the FBI are investigating Hillary Clinton’s private e-mail server. Only CBS bothered to cover the story. 

This week’s episode of the new CBS body-snatching, political comedy BrainDead kicked off with escalating tensions as Senators Luke Healy and Ella Pollack battle to become the next Democratic Whip. For those outside the beltway, the whip is a party’s enforcer. It’s their job to count votes and ensure their members toe the party line when necessary.

On Wednesday one of Hillary Clinton’s top aides, Huma Abedin, testified in a sworn deposition to Judicial Watch about Clinton’s use of a private E-Mail and server, as a part of an ongoing lawsuit. During a report on Wednesday’s CBS This Morning about White House reaction to the terrorist attack in Istanbul, correspondent Margaret Brennan lamented the violence was taking attention away from President Obama’s effort to push his left-wing agenda at an international summit: “...this is the third time in the past year that a major summit is being overshadowed by terrorism.”
