CBS This Morning on Tuesday devoted two segments to hammering Donald Trump on Hurricane Harvey, wondering if the storm will derail his fall plans on taxes, building a wall and for any plans he had on ending the so-called Dreamer program. Additionally, the journalists again hit the President for visiting Texas too soon. 

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, George W. Bush was hammered in the press for flying over New Orleans and not visiting. On Monday’s CBS This Morning, Gayle King wondered if Donald Trump was being too attentive and if this was the “best time” to visit the disaster area. 

Who were the combatants at a rally on Sunday in California? According to CBS This Morning, Monday, it was a “right-wing demonstration” by “right-wingers.” Instead of labeling left wingers who attacked them, reporter Margaret Brennan only identified “anarchists.” 

On Saturday, climate change again became a source of blame for Hurricane Harvey and its path of destruction along the Texas coastline as it moved inland where it has since dropped biblical-like amounts of flooding in the Houston area. Two hosts on CBS and MSNBC invoked climate change, without taking into account things like steering currents.

The name Greenpeace is a misnomer, if allegations in a new racketeering lawsuit prove true. While ABC and NBC only produced a news brief about a protest in favor of Colin Kaepernick, CBS This Morning on Thursday devoted an entire segment to “taking a stand” for the football player, even hyping comparisons of him to Rosa Parks and Muhammad Ali. Reporter Dana Jacobson spun the rally in New York, cheering, “Social justice advocates rallied to show their support for Colin Kaepernick.” 

There was new-word out of the State Department on Wednesday involving developments in the bizarre case where U.S. and Canadian diplomats to the communist country of Cuba, came down with mysterious ailments. Seeming to place the responsibility on Donald Trump, CBS This Morning on Wednesday pointedly noted that protesters in Phoenix didn’t become violent until after the President spoke. Reporting from the scene, journalist Carter Evans observed, “This is where thousands of protesters and Trump supporters were gathered before the rally. They were very vocal, but largely peaceful.”

On Monday night, the “big three” networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC each broke in with special reports for President Trump’s speech announcing his Afghanistan strategy and, in the course of the post-speech analyses, ABC and NBC lobbed cold water on the plans seeing as how low Trump’s approval ratings have been.
