Media Let Dems Off the Hook: ‘No Incentive’ to Compromise

January 10th, 2019 2:17 PM

Since the government shutdown began in late December, the media have made sure to repeatedly lay the blame solely on President Trump and Republicans in Congress. Not only did the press refuse to place any responsibility for the budget impasse on congressional Democrats, but reporters actually touted the notion that liberal lawmakers had “no incentive” to compromise.

The Morning After: Nets Criticize Trump 8X More Than Dems

January 9th, 2019 2:32 PM
Wednesday’s network morning shows provided an avalanche of negative reviews for President Trump’s Oval Office address to the nation calling for border security legislation to end the government shutdown, with anchors and correspondents offering up a staggering 43 statements critical of the presidential speech. By contrast, only a scant five critiques were made of the Democratic response delivered…

Bozell & Graham Column: Soft and Deferential to Democrats

January 9th, 2019 6:36 AM
The media have spent the last two years arrogantly proclaiming that they were the urgently needed public servants who would boldly challenge power and ask the tough questions. But does that boldness continue when the Democrats win some power back? It doesn’t look like it. Democrats can say the wildest things, and often, the so-called Courageous Media bends and move on.

No Surprise Here! Nets Blast Speech, Refuse to Chide Dems

January 8th, 2019 11:00 PM
In perhaps the least surprising thing to happen thus far in 2019, President Donald Trump’s Tuesday night address was not well received by the broadcast networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC (and particularly the first and third ones). Anchors, hosts, and correspondents panned it as inaccurate, full of fear-mongering, and then offered little to no criticism of the Democratic response by Speaker Nancy…

ABC, CBS Ignore Second Body Found in Home of Dem Activist/Donor

January 8th, 2019 8:37 PM
As the Media Research Center has previously documented, the liberal broadcast networks often give prominent Democrats cover when they’re accused of serious crimes by refusing to cover the story. But there seemed to be some accusations that manage to break through. During Tuesday’s evening broadcast, NBC Nightly News was the only network program to report that a second body was found in the…

January 8th, 2019 5:35 PM
When Congress in 2006 voted overwhelmingly to construct a barrier on the U.S.-Mexico border, TV news networks barely noticed. Perhaps even more surprising to today’s viewers of broadcast news, reporters back then admitted that the border fence worked.

January 8th, 2019 10:57 AM
On Tuesday, all three network morning shows were thrilled with Democratic Party talking points preemptively dismissing President Trump’s upcoming immigration speech as nothing but “malice and misinformation.” Reporters touted how liberal lawmakers were “demanding equal time” in the media to response to Trump’s prime-time address.

January 8th, 2019 9:50 AM
The December jobs report showing 312,000 jobs added was a “boom,” a “surge,” and a huge “surprise.” While all three networks noticed the big economic story on Jan. 4, ABC World News Tonight with David Muir didn’t bother to spend much time telling people about it.

King Admits CBS ‘Taking on Water,’ Hopes New Prez can ‘Right the Ship'

January 7th, 2019 4:29 PM
CBS This Morning co-host Gayle King put on her “big smile” to announce the network’s new president. She praised incoming “bad ass” Susan Zirinsky as someone who will “right the ship” that is “taking on water.” Why would CBS be taking on water? Could it be the sexual abuse and harassment allegations against ex-network chairman Les Moonves? Against former co-host Charlie Rose? Against ex-60 Minutes…

January 7th, 2019 12:52 PM
On Monday, the network morning shows all decried the possibility of President Trump declaring a national emergency to secure the southern border in the midst of the government shutdown. However, as fearful as anchors and correspondents were of such a move, they seemed to forget that one of their colleagues actually suggested the idea during a White House press conference on Friday.

January 6th, 2019 12:41 PM
“Speaker is the proper way to address Nancy Pelosi”, CBS host Jane Pauley instructed viewers as she led into her gooey puff piece interview with the California Democrat featured on the network’s Sunday Morning. How gushy was the interview with the new Speaker? Well, it could be argued that the toughest question Pauley asked was about whether or not Pelosi could work with President Trump.
