Ending DACA

In the episode titled “Hashtag IWasMadeInAmerica” of Freeform’s The Fosters airing January 23, the determination to normalize DACA recipients and reward illegal behavior was strong. Torn from the headlines of newspapers across the country, disrupting a conservative speaker’s event on campus was even shown to be noble.

Our national media talk a big talk when it comes to advocating equality for all, if their shameless self-promotion is to be believed. However, their treatment of Puerto Rico's official push for admission into the Union as the 51st state makes crystal clear that some causes are more "equal" than others.

As Office of Management and Budget Director Mick Mulvaney appeared as a guest on Tuesday's New Day, CNN host Chris Cuomo repeatedly lobbied for DACA to be extended to help illegal immigrants without tying it to improving border security, even as his GOP guest repeatedly made the argument against doing so.  

NYT reporter Carl Hulse managed to find good news for Democrats in the party’s abject surrender on the government-shutdown front, in his “news analysis” for Tuesday’s front page, “Hope for Bargain in a Swift Surrender.” The jump-page headline: “With Swift Surrender, Democrats Hold Hope Of Reaching a Bargain.”

The View’s “Republican” co-hosts Meghan McCain and Ana Navarro had a spitfire exchange over who was to blame for the government shutdown during the January 22 show. After Navarro continued to attack the GOP’s response to the shutdown, McCain called her out as a hypocrite for still identifying as a Republican, yet defending Democrats at every chance she was given.

On Monday morning before the government shutdown ended, CNN’s New Day co-host Chris Cuomo sided with illegal immigrants and specifically DREAMers, arguing to White House director of legislative affairs Marc Short that addressing both border security and DACA shows that Republicans don’t truly care about these supposedly maligned group.

Perhaps it is time to award Vanity Fair contributor T.A. Frank a kewpie doll for experiencing a brief moment of mental clarity. Although his January 21 column takes the requisite liberal shots at President Donald Trump and Republicans over the current government shutdown, when you get past that and dig into his details it amazingly confirms that Trump was correct in holding firm on the DACA…
