Red State Revenge? J-Law’s ‘Passengers’ Bombs
December 31st, 2016 12:05 PM
On the surface, “Passengers” looks like sci-fi catnip. Two attractive stars play passengers on a long-distance space flight. Their cryo-pods open prematurely, forcing them to fix the faulty beds or live out their lives in space. Alone. The only thing left for them to do is fall in love. That delivers both a sci-fi punch and romantic potential. And then there’s Lawrence’s open letter. The Oscar…
'Christmas' Makes a Comeback in Media 'Shopping Season' Mentions
December 30th, 2016 9:34 PM
In a column posted at NewsBusters on December 29, R. Emmett Tyrrell Jr. relayed personal anecdotal evidence indicating that "This Christmas Season Was Different." Based on his interactions and observations, Tyrrell believes that 2016 marked a change in "the way we talk about what is a major holy day for the majority of the American people." In his experience, people this year were far more…
Slate Writer: Trump’s Win ‘Shattered’ White Libs’ ‘Complacency’
December 30th, 2016 5:32 PM
It seems that so much happened in 2016 that some major developments were hardly noticed. For example, L.V. Anderson suggested in a Thursday post that this was the year in which a large portion of the left suddenly was forced to realize that America sucks. “After Trump’s election, it is more or less impossible to believe that we are making meaningful progress,” she wrote. “White liberals who woke…
Brian Stelter Glorifies Media in CNN’s Election Look Back Book
December 30th, 2016 4:29 PM
In an apparent attempt to frame the narrative of the 2016 election, CNN Politics published their “first-ever book” Unprecedented: The Election That Changed Everything in early December. Included in the tome is a longwinded essay crafted by CNN’s resident media critic Brian Stelter, where he chronicled the plight of the liberal media covering then candidate Donald Trump. His own anti-Trump bias…

AP Report: Atlanta Grad Students Still Can't Deal With Trump's Win
December 29th, 2016 1:25 PM
In an item published on Tuesday, Matt Sedensky at the Associated Press reported on what he observed in a graduate "Faith and Politics" class at Emory University immediately after and during the weeks following this year's presidential election.
Class members' immature reactions to the election's result and the reporter's injected commentary are both disturbing, but very useful. That's because…
Leftist Blogger: The Media Finally Brought Down ‘Uppity’ Hillary
December 29th, 2016 10:12 AM
In a Christmas Day post, Digby (also a columnist for Salon) contended that, given the media’s hostility toward Hillary Clinton, that “it’s actually a testament to her rectitude that [the e-mail story] was all they came up with. They had certainly tried over the course of 25 years to come up with something real and they ended up having to make up this ridiculous fake scandal to justify their…

MSNBC Analyst Smears Conservatives for Caring About Food Stamp Fraud
December 29th, 2016 12:34 AM
MSNBC’s Ari Melber was up in arms Wednesday night, as he filled in on The Rachel Maddow Show, at Fox News for daring to report that food stamp fraud was up to roughly $70 million in 2016. But the outrage at Fox gave way to outrage at the white working class for falling for the racist “dog whistle” of caring about said fraud. “Why is this all coming up again now,” he inquired to his radical…

CNN Panel Boasts of 'Personal and Passionate' Kerry Speech on Israel
December 28th, 2016 2:45 PM
On Wednesday afternoon, a CNN panel reacted to Secretary of State John Kerry’s speech lambasting Israel with praise for the “personal and passionate” address at the State Department aimed at a supposedly vast base of global supporters who believe in a two-state solution.
Thank You, Professor Sowell
December 28th, 2016 10:42 AM
I first read Thomas Sowell in college -- no thanks to my college. At the majority of America's institutions of "higher learning," reading Thomas Sowell was a subversive act in the early 1990s when I was a student. It remains so today. Why? Because the prolific libertarian economist's vast body of work is a clarion rejection of all the liberal intelligentsia hold dear.
Wealth, Poverty and Politics
December 28th, 2016 10:40 AM
Thomas Sowell has just published a revised and enlarged edition of his classic "Wealth, Poverty and Politics." At the very beginning, he quotes Alexander Hamilton, who said, "The wealth of nations depends upon an infinite variety of causes." The book's 16 chapters apply Hamilton's notion to domestic, as well as international, differences in wealth.

MSNBC Guest: Hillary 'Gracious' Since Election, 'Didn't Contest' It
December 27th, 2016 6:31 PM
Steve McMahon, a Democratic Party member described as a media consultant, apparently either hasn't followed the news sufficiently since the presidential election, or is determined to rewrite history. My vote is with the latter. McMahon appeared on MSNBC on Tuesday. Before criticizing President-Elect Donald Trump's victory rallies as "incendiary, he outrageously claimed that Hillary Clinton has "…

Krauthammer Rips UN Vote on Israel: Trump Should Turn HQ Into 'Condos'
December 27th, 2016 5:04 PM
The United Nations voting again to punish Israel -- with the assent of the Obama White House -- put Fox News analyst Charles Krauthammer is a sour mood. On Monday night’s Special Report, substitute host Doug McKelway pointed out that Sen. Ted Cruz tweeted the U.S. government shouldn’t fund the UN until this vote is reversed.
