Thursday’s Hardball began with a now-tiresome and CNN-like consistency for painting an apocalyptic picture of America under President Donald Trump, trying to leave its audience cowering in fear. Throw in a dictator comparison, a helping of willing panelists, and questions about President’s mental health and you have yourself a par-for-the-course case study in cable news gaslighting.

On Thursday afternoon, MSNBC anchor Ali Velshi excitedly touted the new $16 trillion climate change plan put out by 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders and excused the massive price tag by lecturing viewers that “there’s a price to not doing anything or to doing too little.” He then brought on left-wing activists to further justify the extreme policy proposal.

Rob Reiner has lost it. After wasting the last three years championing the Russian collusion delusion on Twitter and cable TV the film director is down to desperately pleading Democrats to turn on the “Impeachment Hoses” against the “moronic” “childish” “racist” president who is “out of his fucking mind.”

During an interview with failed 2018 Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams, ABC reporter Linsey Davis tossed a series of softball questions at the Democratic media darling. CBS This Morning journalists on Monday attempted to downplay Elizabeth Warren’s repeated efforts to pass herself off as a Native American, calling it a “flap” and insisting that many think it’s “much ado about nothing.” Warren appeared at a Native American forum on Monday in Iowa. This is the same woman who tried to be seen as a Cherokee and who appeared in the cook book Pow Wow Chow. 

On Monday, all three network morning shows kept rooting for recession as a way to harm President Trump’s 2020 reelection chances. Hosts and correspondents dismissed the White House “attempting to downplay growing concerns that the U.S. economy could be headed for a recession” while touting Democrats “seizing the moment.”
