In the latest NewsBusters Podcast, we begin with Curtis Houck's take on CNN's pre-scripted, pre-screened "town hall" with Joe Biden. The questions ended softly, and the whole thing felt like bumper bowling, protecting the president from gutter balls and gaffes.
Then: what's going on with Dave Chappelle and cancel culture and comedy with Christian Toto of HollywoodInToto.com and the Right On Hollywood Podcast. NBC's idea of a balanced story was to highlight all the radical leftist complaints of "hate speech" and then balance that with Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos apologizing profusely for "screwing up" with the most hypersensitive fraction of his labor force. "I should have led up with a lot more humanity," he confessed.
Toto marvels at how the news media can find new angles to keep extending out a story they like -- like the Netflix "mess" -- but somehow find away to lose interest in what happened after our botched withdrawal from Afghanistan. Who needs an update on what happened there?
