The late-night hacks on Tuesday deemed it racist and inappropriate to simply ask tough questions of Supreme Court nominee Ketanji Brown Jackson. The same hosts that mocked Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett were unhappy with the GOP.
Jimmy Kimmel (who in 2018 suggested Kavanaugh's penis be cut off) on ABC seethed, “Speaking of embarrassing, we got a full day of nonsense from the Senate on day two of the Supreme Court confirmation hearing.”
The Jimmy Kimmel Live host then smeared Republican questions as racist: “But not every Republican was impressed. Senators Marsha Blackburn and Josh Hawley were like, 'You lost us at Kentaji.'”
How is Kimmel in any position to pronounce on racism? After all, he's the same guy who once wore blackface in a skit.
Here’s Kimmel dismissing any query about whether Jackson is soft on crime as some Qanon nut conspiracy:
This is Josh Hawley. This guy, what a creep this guy is. He's senator from Missouri, spent much of his 30 allotted minutes reading a list of child porn videos from a case the judge worked on -- he did, that's not a joke. He's trying to, like, throw meat to these Qanon nuts and also smear a woman who's a mother of two daughters and quite clearly is not pro-child porn.
He later even abandoned comedy, just showing annoyance for how Republicans were tougher on Jackson while liberals said nice things:
Notice there are no jokes there. Kimmel simply thinks Republicans can't ask questions.
On The Tonight Show, the normally more reasonable Jimmy Fallon also played the race card. He showed an image of Republican senators and mocked, “Meanwhile, can we see the Republican senators who are asking them? [Cut to a shot of all-white GOP senators.] Gosh, it looks like the employee of the month wall at Cracker Barrel.”
The only person who even hinted at common sense was Late Late Show host James Corden. He at least noted that Democrats went soft on the liberal nominee:
Today was the first of two days where senators can ask the nominee direct questions. So, Democrats asked things like "Why are you so great?" And Republicans asked things like, "Why aren't you Donald Trump?"
CBS's Stephen Colbert and NBC's Seth Meyers were off last night. Otherwise we could expect even more hate from these late night hacks.
The smearing of Republicans as racist was sponsored by Allstate on ABC and Liberty Mutual on NBC. Click on the links to let them know what you think.
