Leave it to the vile hosts of ABC’s The View to kick off Black History Month by playing around in a big steaming pile of racism. Between racist co-hosts Whoopi Goldberg and Sunny Hostin and guest Eboni K. Williams, the hate was firing on all cylinders as they called Florida Republican Governor Ron DeSantis not just racist but “anti-black,” and whining that a white Memphis officer and EMT not involved in the deadly beating of Tyre Nichols were not being charged with murder.
After celebrating black engineer Marian Croak for her incredibly fascinating contributions that helped innovate video communication programs like Skype, Goldberg lashed out at DeSantis and Western Civilization. According to her, Western Civilization wasn’t so great, and black inventors weren’t a part of it. She also accused DeSantis of trying to ban the teaching of black contributions to America:
I don't understand why he [Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R)] believes that -- he wants people to see the history of Western Civilization and history and philosophy of Western Civilization. Because he wants it seen through that lens. Why is your lens better than my lens?
You know. So, you're basically saying, like, to people like Marian Croak you're not going to teach about her. Her history is American history. What doesn't he get? We're not going anywhere. Just because you stop teaching it in that colleges, you think people are going to stop telling these stories.
Ignorant of how DeSantis can’t run for governor again due to term limits, Goldberg proclaimed black voters in Florida were a monolith. “There's always been black people in Florida. And if you're not careful, that base is going to rise up and vote your ass out of there,” she screamed at the camera.
Later in the show, during the interview with Williams, Hostin whined that no white people were being charged with Nichols’ death. Williams (a lawyer) suggested a “coat of white protection” was responsible for why only black officers were charged with second-degree murder:
HOSTIN: What do you think about the fact that a couple of the white officers that were involved, a white officer, and some of the other EMTs haven't been charged? On paid administrative leave.
WILLIAMS: What's good for the goose isn’t seeming to be good for the gander. Right? And we're seeing –
[Crowd noise]
We are, right? We’re seeing what that coat of white protection looks like in actuality. And we have to call it that and name it as such.
In reality, only the officers involved in the beating were charged with murder. And while Hostin whined about the EMTs not getting charged, the facts show three of them were fired. And of those, two of them were black.
Williams spewed her own hate for DeSantis. After being asked by co-host Joy Behar if DeSantis was “racist,” Williams argued that he wasn’t just racist but “anti-black” and accused him of working hard to “eliminate and erase blackness specifically.” Behar suggested he was doing that to appease his “racist” constituents.
This latest example of racism on The View was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from LifeLock and Red Lobster. Their contact information is linked so you can tell them about the hate they fund.

WHOOPI GOLDBERG: I don't understand why he [Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R)] believes that -- he wants people to see the history of Western Civilization and history and philosophy of Western Civilization. Because he wants it seen through that lens. Why is your lens better than my lens?
[Applause]
You know. So, you're basically saying, like, to people like Marian Croak you're not going to teach about her. Her history is American history. What doesn't he get? We're not going anywhere. Just because you stop teaching it in that colleges, you think people are going to stop telling these stories. You’re – you’re – No! It’s not going to happen.

GOLDBERG: But the thing is, listen, you can -- My folks are from Florida, they’re Floridians. And they've been black the whole time. They were raised – They were raised in Florida. There's always been black people in Florida. And if you're not careful, that base is going to rise up and vote your ass out of there!

We are, right? We’re seeing what that coat of white protection looks like in actuality. And we have to call it that and name it as such. Which is really why I wrote this book.

JOY BEHAR: Do you think he's [DeSantis] racist?
WILLIAMS: I think he's anti-black. And I really like to say that precisely, because Sunny made a brilliant point. He talks about the importance of Spanish culture of Chinese culture. So, there's a global inclusion that works overtime to eliminate and erase blackness specifically. And we have to identify that.
BEHAR: That's basically to say to his constituents, who are racist, “look what I'm doing.”
HOSTIN: Yeah. “I’m a leader in this area.”
