Rebuke Of Trump Calling Kamala 'Bum' Sends MSNBC Host Into Frenzy! 'Hear Hear!'

Symone Sanders-Townsend Michael Steele Eugene Daniels Tara Setmayer MSNBC The Weekend 7-27-24 It began relatively calmly, with Eugene Daniels sounding more like a Kamala campaign adviser than a Politico "journalist"--and new president of the White House Correspondents Association.

But things quickly dialed up to 11 when Tara Setmayer took over. Setmayer is an MSNBC commentator, a member of the disgraced Lincoln Project, and co-founder of The Seneca Project, whose mission is to turn out women voters for Kamala in the swing states.

Reacting to Trump having called Kamala a "bum" [not my kind of wording, admittedly], Setmayer spun a litany of charges against Trump, arguing that he is the real bum in this race.

As you'll see in the video and screencap, co-host Symone Sanders-Townsend (who worked for Vice President Harris before becoming an MSNBC host) had a very enthusiastic, to say the least, reaction! "Hear hear! Hear hear!. Hear hear, women! Women in America will not stand for that! We will not stand for the disrespect!"

Despite the segment running overtime, all co-host Michael Steele could do was smilingly stand by as the ladies raged at Trump.

This is the same Setmayer we caught making thinly-veiled threats of violence against Trump's potential VP picks, saying that their fate could be the same as members of France's Vichy Nazi-collaborationist government—10,000 of whom were later executed!

And speaking of disrespecting women, Setmayer called Casey DeSantis, wife of Ron, "a Serena Waterford wannabe." As we wrote at the time:

"Waterford is the character from The Handmaid's Tale who has been described, in a website about screen villains, as "the cruel, fanatically religious wife of Fred Waterford, the dictator of Gilead."

To paraphrase Setmayer: how dare she? How dare she?

Note: Setmayer should do her homework before flinging accusations at Trump. During her tirade, she claimed that Trump "is under indictment for stealing national security secrets." That was a reference to the case against Trump regarding his handling of classified documents.  Only problem for Setmayer: as MSNBC has reported, that case was dismissed earlier this month.

MICHAEL STEELE: We have Trump last night, when talking about the Vice President, I think recognizing the threat to that. So now, now comes, you know, it starts with the DEI Vice President. She'a s DEI whatever. Now you have him last night saying this about, you know, her at his Believers Summit, that she's a "bum." Let's take a quick listen.

DONALD TRUMP: She was a bum three weeks ago. She was a bum. A failed Vice President in a failed administration, with millions of people crossing, and she was the border czar. Now they're trying to say she never was the border czar, she had nothing to do with the border. She was the border czar. They're trying to take it, they're deleting it all over the place.

STELLE: So, it is part of the cascading effect that Trump likes to bring to politics. So, you know, we start, we start with the name-calling, the seemingly innocent, DEI Vice President.

EUGENE DANIELS: Cackling Kamala Harris.

STEELE: Cackling, right. So now she's a bum. You can see where this ultimately goes.

. . .

DANIELS: We are going to see, it seems, an enormous amount of racism and sexism that we haven't seen.

SYMONE SANDERS-TOWNSEND: Even more?

DANIELS: Even more, even more than 2008. Because, you know, I know y'all know, but people are more emboldened. They say all the time some wild stuff to people, and to us.

So, the amount that's incoming, it's going to be important for the Harris campaign to figure out how to, one, reintroduce her to the American people as we move forward, because she is running, and probably should run, as the running from behind in this race, right? That's probably better for them. And they have to make sure that they figure out how to block these attacks from Donald Trump and folks, especially the ones that are based on race and sexism.

I will say in the White House, the VP team, I won't reference Symone over here, they did that, but there were a lot of people in the White House, and Democrats writ large, that weren't sure how to defend her against the racism and sexism that was coming.

TARA SETMAYER: They're not going to have to. They're not going to have to. If Donald Trump keeps speaking like that, I can tell you that for women, you look at that, it doesn't matter what side of the aisle you are on, you go, how dare he? That is the Vice President of the United States. She's an accomplished woman.

A bum? It's projection. He's talking about himself. This is coming from a guy who has been bankrupt how many times? Whose daddy had to give him money to start what he was doing. Whose daddy had to bail him out when he was bankrupt. Who has, you know, he's a 34-count convicted felon, who is under indictment for stealing national security secrets. For, who had to pay a half-billion dollars because of business fraud.

You want to talk about a bum? How dare he speak to her like that? And I can tell you know right now, that there are women in this country who are sick and tired of men, mediocre men like Donald Trump, failing up because of their daddy's money.

SANDERS-TOWNSEND: [Excitedly shouting] Hear hear! Hear hear!. Hear hear, women! Women in America will not stand for that! We will not stand for the disrespect!

SETMAYER: They're not going to stand for that. They're tired of it. They're tired of men standing on women's shoulders and taking credit for it and the same time, too.

So I'm telling you, let Trump and MAGA keep this up. Women are looking at this and saying, enough is enough is enough. We're going to save this democracy,I'm telling you right now.

STEELE: All right.

SETMAYER: Keep it up, MAGA.

SANDERS-TOWNSEND: The producers are telling us it's enough. They telling Michael we gotta go. But I'm with it.

STEELE: I got nothing right here, let me tell you, naw. Eugene Daniels, Tara Setmayer. Oh my gosh [chuckles]. Mediocre men, you're numbered, baby. You're numbered. Thank you guys for starting us off.
