On Friday morning, the “Big Three” networks of ABC, CBS, and NBC were almost in state of euphoria over Oprah Winfrey’s Thursday night “star-studded get-out-the-vote effort for” Vice President Kamala Harris that was “classic” work from “the queen of talk”, including “deeply personal and emotional stories” (and utter falsehoods).
ABC did its part on Good Morning America by playing the most unbashed tools in the shed. Co-host Michael Strahan had an interview with Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff to hawk, but he first had to promote Harris and Oprah.
“Vice President Harris was in Michigan with Oprah, fielding questions from voters while former President Trump spoke at an anti-Semitism event in Washington, D.C.,” Strahan beamed in tossing to chief tool Mary Bruce.
The unabashedly partisan Bruce was ebullient:
Well, this event here overnight in Michigan was signature Oprah Winfrey from the celebrity appearances to deeply personal and emotional stories of voters. Harris and Oprah well aware the race is extremely close and trying to reach out to key voters that will make all the difference.
Gushing that “the queen of talk len[t] her star power to boost Kamala Harris and get out the vote,” Bruce fawned over the astro-turfed event as “a highly produced virtual rally” with “Oprah trying to harness enthusiasm for Harris and keep her momentum going, urging Americans to vote their values.”
Bruce saw no issue with Harris’s penchant for hiding from the American people and instead praised her for “fielding questions directly from voters” (which were undoubtedly screened and scripted in advance), which has been “something she rarely does.”
Instead of hawking the economy, Bruce focused on abortion and guns with the latter including a lie Bruce purposefully peddled from far-left, dark-money-backed ProPublica the story of Amber Thurman, a “28-year-old mother who was reportedly the first publicly known to lose her life as a result of Georgia’s abortion ban.”
Bruce briefly pivoted to Trump, kicking dirt in his face by going to an lie-filled excerpt of Emhoff and Strahan after saying he claimed “Harris ‘doesn’t like Jewish people’ and attacked Jews that support Democrats and Harris.”
CBS Mornings curiously had co-host, Kamala Harris donor, and Winfrey’s best friend Gayle King off on Friday. Instead, fill-in co-host Kristine Johnson promoted Harris in the Eye Opener as “hit[ting] the trail with a star-studded event in Michigan, hosted by Oprah Winfrey.”
“Now let’s look at the Democratic side. Vice President Kamala Harris had some major star power at her latest campaign event, a livestream from Michigan with Oprah Winfrey. It is a key battleground state, and the event was the start of a new push to win over those undecided voters,” she later proclaimed.
Senior White House correspondent Weijia Jiang celebrated the night as “classic Oprah” on display “interview[ing] Vice President Harris with a live audience and thousands of virtual guests...including several celebrities” whom “[t]he campaign hopes...will propel Harris’s message on everything from January 6th to gun control.”
With CBS having spent two segments burying Republicans as losers across the country thanks to North Carolina GOP gubernatorial candidate Mark Robinson, Jiang saw no need to spend more than a sentence on what Trump was up to: “Last night in Washington, DC, Trump focused on Jewish Americans at two events to combat antisemitism.”
Over on NBC’s Today, chief White House correspondent Peter Alexander trumpeted about “Harris...hoping to parlay the star power of one of her most famous surrogates to amplify her pitch to voters.”
Speaking of Winfrey, he swooned that “[t]he queen of daytime hosting the Vice President in prime time, part of a star-studded get-out-the-vote effort for the Democratic nominee” with “[t]he Harris campaign hoping to use Oprah’s popularity to court undecided voters.”
Alexander also peddled the Georgia lie:
Ahead of Harris’s visit to Georgia today, where she’ll emphasize reproductive rights, a powerful message from a 28-year-old pregnant woman, who blames her death two years ago on delays in her care because of Georgia’s restrictive abortion laws.
Like the others, he also hailed Harris’s remark about gun ownership on how she’d shoot any intruders....which wouldn’t happen since she might have Secret Service for the rest of her life.
The Saturday Today co-host poo-pooed Trump ahead of a segment on Robinson from Laura Jarrett, daughter of far-left activist and Obama family confidante Valerie Jarrett (click “expand”):
ALEXANDER: Her Republican rival in Washington at events focused on fighting anti-Semitism. Trump complaining that the majority of Jewish Americans support Harris and even appearing to blame the Jewish community if he’s defeated this fall.
TRUMP: If I don’t win this election and the Jewish people would really have a lot to do with that if that happens because, at 40 percent, that means 60 percent of the people are voting for the enemy.
ALEXANDER: And repeating this dire prediction.
TRUMP: Israel will not exist within two years if she becomes president. And what a difference a president makes — big difference.
ALEXANDER: At the same event last night, former President Trump also said that he would reinstitute a travel ban if he returns to the White House to prevent migrants from, “infested countries” from entering the United States.
