Univision’s anchors might have positioned themselves to win an acting Emmy for portraying themselves to their viewers as though they’ve never heard of the immigration-via-budget-reconciliation bill they’ve been pushing ever since President Joe Biden took office.
Watch as the anchors proceed to insult the interest of their audience:
JORGE RAMOS: Good evening. We begin the newscast with hope. Since 1986, there hasn't been a process by which to legalize millions of undocumented (migrants), Ilia. But now there's a plan in the Senate to legalize DREAMers, people with TPS, and essential workers through a budgetary process called "reconciliation."

CLAUDIA UCEDA: Jorge, the reconciliation process is a way to pass legislation with a simple majority, that is, with 51 votes. Let's remember that here in the Senate there are 50 Republican votes and there are also 50 Democrats, and it would have, it would take the vote of Vice President Kamala Harris to get to those numbers, there's talk right now that it could benefit six million undocumented immigrants, but this whole process is just beginning and that number may change.
Ramos opened the report with – “we begin the newscast with hope” – but it begs the question of whether he's talking about the "DREAMers, people with TPS, and essential workers through a budget process called 'reconciliation,'" or about the network ensuring their long-term survival with precisely those Spanish-speaking newcomers?
In what came across as utter disregard, not only to the intelligence of the network's viewership, but for his own effectiveness as a communicator, Ramos said that “sudden” talk about the process “confuses a lot of people.” “What is this”?, as if he – and his audience- didn't know. It was up to reporter Claudia Uceda to go over the Democrat maneuver as simply as possible, skimming over it and keeping out essential information along the way.
To remind Mr. Ramos, here, here, and here, are just a few examples of Univision reports revealing that far from not knowing what this (reconciliation) is, or how many immigrants it will legalize, Univision actively supports the bill -- consistent with its behavior as a pro-immigration PAC with a broadcast license.

ILIA CALDERÓN: That Jorge, is a word that you're going to hear a lot in the coming days. This maneuver would not require Republican votes in the Senate, but it must be supported by all Democrats, as Claudia Uceda reports from Washington.
CLAUDIA UCEDA: With this text in the 90-page plus federal budget package, Democrats in the Senate formalized the reconciliation process that would give millions of undocumented migrants a pathway to citizenship and permanent residency. The bill allocates $107,000,000,000 to legalize qualifying migrants, secure the border and counter violence. The text does not indicate how many or which group of undocumented migrants would benefit, although it does mention that workers and their families would receive permanent residency cards, something that generates hope.
EVA SANTOS, DREAMER: This may be the year of change for us and we can finally be at peace.
UCEDA: The Judiciary Committee will determine who will benefit. Senator Alex Padilla (serves on that committee).
ALEX PADILLA, D-CALIFORNIA: We hope to see immigration reform in that package offering protections for DREAMers for example, people who use TPS protections, and not just farm workers, but all essential workers.
UCEDA: The Senator from California told us that essential undocumented workers in the healthcare, transportation and construction sectors could benefit.
SENATE MAJORITY LEADER CHUCK SCHUMER (D-NY): It's such an overwhelming force.
UCEDA: The Democratic maneuver is to pass the budget through a reconciliation process, something that does not require Republican support, although it does require the unanimous vote of Democratic senators.
CLAUDIA FLORES, CENTER FOR AMERICAN PROGRESS: Because this process is specific as to what it has to do with the budget, they can move it forward without any Republican votes, so we're very hopeful that yes, it can be accomplished this year.
UCEDA: The Republican party hasn't even wanted to touch the issue of legalizing millions of workers, and today, the highest ranking Republican in the Senate said that --
SENATE MINORITY LEADER MITCH MCCONNEL (R-KY): Sweeping amnesty.
CLAUDIA UCEDA: -- they are giving amnesty when there is a crisis at the border, thus rejecting the Democratic plan.
