The National Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) snapped back after news broke last week that the NFL is donating tons of money to radical groups seeking to defund the police. The NFL's Inspire Change social justice initiative is funding three groups in particular, prompting a justifiably sharp retort from Patrick Yoes, president of the fraternal order.

The New York Times resorted to hysterics Thursday in an editorial calling for total sports league shutdowns. The op-ed claimed the nation is “at war” with COVID-19, is losing the battle and all professional leagues should shut it down for a few months.

Okay, vaccinations and protocols are not working, and professional sports were not supposed to be looking at a COVID-induced long dark winter. The experts and the politicians had all the “scientific answers.” Talk of temporary shutdowns and bubbles were supposed to be things of the past.

The National Football League seeks to inspire change, but it’s repeatedly keeping bad company and pursuing the wrong kind of change. Its latest blunder is to fund numerous defund the police groups through its “Inspire Change” social justice program.

The Wall Street Journal didn’t get the joke. After Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers confirmed he has a broken toe last week, he humorously called it “COVID toe.” That remark was in reference to massive media coverage of him previously catching the coronavirus after not having been vaccinated. The WSJ took the joke as truth – hook, line and sinker – and ran a story on it.

The Kenosha race riots and Kyle Rittenhouse jury verdict are now officially complete. Colin Kaepernick has weighed in. He’s added his special blend of America- and cop-hating, tear-it-all-down, abolish the white supremacist system vitriol that has been his stock and trade ever since he torched his NFL career.

Athletes misled by President Joe Biden and corrupt left-stream media are once again overdosing on white supremacy Kool-Aid.  False narratives over the Kyle Rittenhouse verdict are pushing them over the edge, just as the Jacob Blake incident did a year ago. Mike Florio, the “limousine liberal” host of NBC Pro Football Talk, and Howard Stern just can’t hide their hatred for Green Bay quarterback Aaron Rodgers. They’re so obsessed with Rodgers that it’s ridiculous. Florio said Rodgers can’t handle criticism, but he flew off the handle when he was questioned about his obsession with him.

Vaccinations are not fool-proof preventers of COVID-19. They are, however, “vaccinations” against objective reporting by out-and-out dishonest sports media. The stories of Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, Minnesota Vikings guard Dakota Dozier and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers are living proof.

Colin Kaepernick has numerous media sycophants who will never let it go with the ex-NFL social justice warrior. Year after year, they keep crying about him not getting another chance to play in the league. They’ll use anything in NFL news cycles they can to make a case for a Kaepernick grievance.

No one ever accused the National Football League of consistency when it comes to player discipline. So it comes as no surprise that the Green Bay Packers were subjected to a massive fine over COVID-19 protocol violations, while Henry Ruggs III and Deshaun Watson, who allegedly committed far greater offenses, have not been fined a penny.

In the continuing Aaron Rodgers saga, State Farm is standing with personal freedom and the unvaccinated Green Bay quarterback. Lanky lefty Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, however, says professional sports has been damaged forever by Rodgers.

Between social justice protests, sordid Super Bowl halftime “entertainment” and vulgar language, the National Football League just can’t stay out of its own way. Last week’s alternate Monday Night Football broadcast on ESPN2 featured an F-bomb by guest Marshawn Lynch, and co-host Peyton Manning apologized for the off-color language.
