Column: When the Media's Humility Died in Darkness

Insular media elites have a nasty habit of thinking they represent Democracy. They aren’t a half or a third of Democracy. They own it. Like they’ve trademarked it. Anyone who dares to attack them is attacking Democracy. The most obvious example is The Washington Post and their arrogant motto “Democracy Dies in Darkness.”

On Friday, former Washington Post Executive Editor Martin Baron appeared on their Washington Post Live to promote his new book on leading the Post in the Trump years. Baron implied any interview with Donald Trump is a big mistake. It's just "giving him a platform, he controls the conversation." In essence, unless the press can "win," Trump should be denied.
