If there’s anything Hollywood loves more than Hillary Clinton, it’s the ACLU. And now that they can’t throw lavish fundraisers for the former Democratic candidate, entertainers can funnel more money to their favorite liberal organization. On the evening of March 31, a group of big name actors will do just that through a benefit performance called “Stand for Rights.”

This weekend, LGBT activists across the country rejoiced to see Disney’s first gay character, LeFou, in Beauty and the Beast. Now, superhero fans are celebrating a similar milestone. Power Rangers, coming to theaters this Friday, will feature a character who is questioning her sexuality, director Dean Israelite told Hollywood Reporter editor Aaron Couch.

Tinsel Town is taking the “Day Without a Woman” quite seriously. According to a Hollywood Reporter report, many entertainment companies have lent support to the movement by holding events, focusing content on women and encouraging female staffers to take the day off. Meanwhile, celebrities have been tweeting in solidarity.  

Thanks to the president, several stressed Hollywood stars are suffering from disordered eating. “Donald Trump is making me gain weight,” entertainment icon Barbra Streisand tweeted on March 5. “I start the day with liquids, but after the morning news, I eat pancakes smothered in maple syrup!” 

A small movie theater is at the center of media controversy after it announced it would not show Disney’s live action Beauty and the Beast. The Henagar Drive-in Theatre in Henagar, Alabama, is a small business committed to showing family-oriented films. Once the owners realized that Beauty and the Beast would feature Disney’s first gay character, LeFou, they took to Facebook with a notice. 

In 1980, Ronald Reagan—a former actor—won the presidency. Just over 35 years later, Celebrity Apprentice star Donald Trump achieved the same feat. Celebs weren't the only ones getting political through Oscars evening -- journalists and liberal organizations did too. 

When it comes to Hollywood, viewers on both sides of the aisle agree: political speeches aren’t that convincing. Only 25 percent of participants have ever changed their opinions based on information presented in a political awards show speech.   

Hollywood bias extends beyond tweets and activism—it’s in the money too. Using data from the Center for Responsive Politics, MRC Culture found that six Oscar nominees together donated more than $240,000 to Democratic and liberal causes.

As the most hyped awards event of the season, the Oscars may also be the most political. 

On February 16, President Trump conducted his first solo press conference since the inauguration. Predictably, the Twittersphere erupted with liberal attacks on the president.  

After the election, many liberal celebrities cried “Resist!” Yet, a few brave ones called “embrace.”
