A group funded by radical billionaire George Soros is smearing a group of concerned mothers as being somehow filled with hate and MSNBC was just tickled pink over it.
The Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) repeated on Tuesday its pathetic tradition of smearing groups that speak out against the left's preferred narrative by placing the pro-parent education group Moms for Liberty on the same “hate map” as violent and racist groups, such as neo-Nazis and the Klu Klux Klan. MSNBC’s host Nicole Wallace invited SPLC President and CEO Margaret Huang on to the June 6 edition of Deadline: White House where Huang and Wallace both spewed propaganda at Moms for Liberty. Wallace referred to Moms for Liberty as “reactionary,” while Huang called them “right wing-ideologues.” But what was missing from MSNBC’s coverage was any mention that the leftist SPLC was connected to Soros, who has a sordid history of supporting anti-family initiatives.
The Soros-funded SPLC website claims that Moms for Liberty “spread[s] hateful imagery and rhetoric against the LGBTQ community.” The SPLC engages in guilt by association to smear Moms for Liberty, while downplaying the insane leftist political agendas the group opposes, such as critical race theory and radicalized gender ideological indoctrination of children. Soros’ Open Society Foundations gave SPLC a $75,000 grant in 2016, while Foundation Directory Online data suggest the Soros Fund Charitable Foundation gave another $90,000 between 2017 and 2019, totaling $160,000 in funding collectively between the two Soros groups.
The SPLC being anti-parent and anti-family falls right in line with Soros’ distorted vision of open society. Soros doesn’t mince words about the insane “open society” world he envisions when taken to its logical conclusion: “[I]n a perfectly open society none of the existing ties are final, and people’s relation to nation, family, and their fellows depends entirely on their own decisions.” What his absurd vision means, however, is that “the permanence of social relationships has disappeared; the organic structure of society has disintegrated to the point where its atoms, the individuals, float around without any roots,” Soros wrote in Underwriting Democracy.
But that’s not all. Soros-funded global media outlet openDemocracy published an op-ed from a “queer communism” activist who said the COVID-19 crisis “shows it’s time to abolish the [nuclear] family.” Specifically, according to that article, “the pandemic is an acutely important time to provision, evacuate and generally empower survivors of — and refugees from — the nuclear household.” Soros fueled at least $1,633,457 into openDemocracy between 2016 and 2020 alone.
SPLC appears to be helping to further Soros’ vision.
Moms for Liberty responded to the SPLC on twitter, calling their inclusion on the “hate map” part of a “coordinated attempt to silence and suppress us.” SPLC is in no position to be throwing the word “hate” around. Recently, SPLC attorney Thomas Webb Jurgens was charged with domestic terrorism after being arrested at an event where protestors threw Molotov cocktails at a law enforcement training facility in Georgia, according to the New York Post. SPLC, of course, downplayed the arrest by claiming they will continue to push back against “violence and police use of force against Black, Brown and Indigenous communities.” Wallace didn’t bother bringing this scandal up while it propped up the SPLC’s smear campaign.
Twitter revolted against the Soros-tied SPLC for targeting mothers.
Among those defending Moms for Liberty were Manhattan Institute Senior Fellow Christopher Rufo, who tweeted, “The SPLC is a left-wing activist organization that manipulates historical guilt in order to smear its political opponents. The women who lead Moms for Liberty and Parents Defending Education are good-hearted patriots who should file suit against the SPLC.”
Echoing Rufo’s defense, Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) called the SPLC “a corrupt slush fund devoted to defamation.” Christina Pushaw, the Rapid Response Director for Ron DeSantis's presidential campaign, responded to the news by tweeting: “Unreal that being a mom who cares about her kids’ education and well-being is now considered ‘hate.’ I think the real hate group here is SPLC!”
Past smear campaigns by the SPLC have not ended well, which apparently didn’t faze MSNBC. In 2012, a man shot a guard and attempted to murder employees of the Family Research Council (FRC) and smear Chick-fil-A sandwiches on their faces, reportedly after finding the group on the SPLC “hate map.”
FRC President Tony Perkins said that this unhinged man “was given a license to perpetrate this act of violence by groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center which has systematically and recklessly labeled every organization with which they disagree as a 'hate group.'” Wallace also conveniently ignored mentioning this incident too.
Conservatives are under attack. Call MSNBC at (800) 952-5210 and demand that the network stop giving a platform to the SPLC’s smearing of mothers for caring about the development and education of their children!
