The marching, the protests, the shrill screaming outside the U.S. Supreme Court, and the assassination nation attempt against Justice Brett Kavanaugh are not being done by those who are pro-abortion because according to The View’s Sara Haines on Monday’s show, “nobody’s pro-abortion” and “everyone is pro-life.”
This ridiculous argument was sparked by comments Florida Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz made at a Turning Point USA event over the weekend where he said: “Like, why is it that the women with the least likelihood of getting pregnant are the ones most worried about having abortions? Nobody wants to impregnate you if you look like a thumb.” He also called the pro-abortion rallies “pro-murder rallies.”
After playing the soundbite of Gaetz, Haines immediately took to decrying how he hasn’t been canceled because of the so-far-empty sexual misconduct allegations against him. “He’s also currently under a DOJ investigation for sex trafficking a 17-year-old, yet he still has speaking gigs. Like, we've seen people do so much less that can't do crap and this guy is still running around like nothing's happening,” she whined.
Haines went on to gripe that Gaetz’s comments “really leave no room for any intellectual conversation.”
So, it’s a perfect conversation for The View.
“Nobody's pro-abortion, and, like, everyone is pro-life,” she ludicrously proclaimed. She then suggested that those who call themselves pro-life are okay with killing the mother to protect a “clump of cells.”
“It's that some people decide to eliminate the life of the mother altogether. The viable existing human, we're just not going to attend to, but the clump of cells – and we can all debate when that starts – is going to be defended at all costs,” she raged.
If “nobody’s pro-abortion,” then what would Haines call the pearl-clutching over the lack or minimal of clinics in certain states? How does she explain the “shout your abortion” movement? And if the real pro-life side was for allowing the mother to die, as she suggested, why do they operate crisis pregnancy centers and other charities that support the mother during the pregnancy and afterward?
Haines doesn’t have an answer because she relies on caricatures of her opponents to scare and gaslight her viewers.
And in another example of playing games with labels, she took issue with Gaetz calling her side “pro-murder.” “Pro-murder, no one that does this would think it is murder, just to clarify his language,” she huffed.
Of course, “no one who does this” wants to be thought of as a murderer. But what they’re going is taking a life, like a specialized hitman sought out to do a job.
At the end of the segment, Haines was forced to read a “legal note” by ABC’s Standards and Practices admitting Gaetz is not facing charges. “Real quick legal note, Congressman Matt Gaetz has not been charged with any crimes and has denied any wrongdoing,” she reluctantly said.
But it was upended by co-host Whoopi Goldberg who exclaimed: “Yeah, but you're a liar, sir! We’ll be right back.”
These lies about the abortion debate were made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from Ensure and 4imprint. Their contact information is linked.

11:16:10 a.m. EasternWHOOPI GOLDBERG: Another low light from the Turning Point USA Student Action Summit was when Congressman Matt Gaetz – yeah – took the stage to weigh in on the battle for reproductive rights in America. Something clearly, he knows a lot about. Let's watch this clip.
[Cuts to video]
REP. MATT GAETZ (R-FL): Have you watched these pro-abortion, pro-murder rallies? The people are just disgusting. Like, why is it that the women with the least likelihood of getting pregnant are the ones most worried about having abortions? Nobody wants to impregnate you if you look like a thumb. [Transition] You got ankles weaker than the legal reasoning behind roe versus wade. A few of them need to get up and march. They need to get up and march for, like, an hour a day, swing those arms. Get the blood pumping. Maybe mix in a salad.
[Cuts back to live]
GOLDBERG: So says the man who supposedly pays for sex. Okay? [Applause] You know?
SARA HAINES: He’s also currently under a DOJ investigation for sex trafficking a 17-year-old, yet he still has speaking gigs. Like, we've seen people do so much less that can't do crap and this guy is still running around like nothing's happening.
But I feel like comments like he made really leave no room for any intellectual conversation because he went so low on that, but someone does need to tell him, one, nobody's pro-abortion, and, like, everyone is pro-life. It's that some people decide to eliminate the life of the mother altogether. The viable existing human, we're just not going to attend to, but the clump of cells – and we can all debate when that starts – is going to be defended at all costs.
And pro-abortion – pro-murder, no one that does this would think it is murder, just to clarify his language.
But I also think that he needs to realize most people that are pro-choice are not fighting for themselves. Like, I am not pro-choice because I think something's going to happen to me and I think I'm going to get pregnant. Although I defend those people too. So many of us are concerned about people that don't have a voice. They don't have the agency to speak up. They need power. They need a platform.
So, I love that he pretty much just showed us every policy he believes in had to affect him first.
