Immigration continues to be priority at the national Spanish newscasts, but beware of what makes it, or rather does NOT make it, to the news. For example, the suppression by the main Hispanic media outlets, namely Univision, Telemundo, CNN En Español, and to a lesser extent, Estrella TV, of the recent exoneration of border agents falsely accused of whipping Haitian immigrants in September 2021.
The silence over the most recent events announced as part of an investigation by Customs and Border Protection contrasts with the racket the same media came-up with after photos of the migrants trying to dismount the agents at work were published.
Here is what Telemundo and Univision aired at the time:
NACHO LOZANO, TELEMUNDO: Now let's go with the images that have caused outrage in the world and it's the other story that grabs headlines this morning. They show how Texas Border Patrol agents throw horses at him and beat immigrants trying to enter the United States with whips.

FRANCISCO FAJARDO, TELEMUNDO: Meanwhile, the criticism is mounting for this image where Border Patrol agents are seen on horseback, preventing the passage of a group of immigrants, lashing out and causing some to fall into the water.

EDGAR MUÑOZ, TELEMUNDO: But without a doubt Aranxta, what continues to cause outrage are the elements of the border patrol on horseback, beating, trying to prevent the weekend access of some immigrants to this area.

BORJA VOCES, UNIVISION: The Department of Homeland Security is now announcing an investigation into agents who used horses and reins in a threatening manner.
While the Spanish-speaking liberal corporate media hide inconvenient truths revealed after a thorough investigation produced zero charges against the agents, they continue to assiduously give air-time to any event or news that endorses open borders, and to denounce any opposing views.
For instance, with the possible end of Title 42, the news content tilts heavily on the advice of lawyers, activists and politicians set to win from the avalanche of migrants expected to invade the southern border after May 23, 2022, as aknowledged the White House.
The Spanish-speaking public deserves to receive objective and balanced information, even regarding the situation at the southern border. Let's hope that the exoneration of the border patrol agents gets the due attention in the nation's Spanish-language news. It's never too late to tell the truth.
