CNN got more than they bargained for when asking conservative commentator Mary Katharine Ham to comment on a tweet sent out by Democrat Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez [D-NY] over the weekend.
The Democrat was being dragged on Twitter for vacationing maskless in packed crowds in Florida, after frequently bashing the red state while her own home state of New York is under vaccine and mask mandates. After being called out on her hypocrisy, Ocasio-Cortez childishly accused her Republican critics of being “sexually frustrated” they couldn’t date her:
It’s starting to get old ignoring the very obvious, strange, and deranged sexual frustrations that underpin the Republican fixation on me, women,& LGBT+ people in general.

These people clearly need therapy, won’t do it, and use politics as their outlet instead. It’s really weird
New Day co-host Brianna Keilar touted the Democrat bashing Republicans as "creepy weirdos" without pointing out why she was being roasted: “ ‘Creepy weirdos.’ That is how congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is describing Republicans who are attacking her for taking a New Years trip to Florida with her boyfriend,” she stated before asking Ham to weigh in.

But the conservative commentator brutally mocked the vain congresswoman for claiming her looks made her a target for the right, instead of her own hypocrisy and foolish remarks like the ones above.
Pulling out pop culture and movie references left and right, Ham pretended to agree with AOC:
Well first of all, I woke up like this. So I think I have the authority on people being sexually frustrated by my mere existence. It happens all the time. And I’m glad to be able to discuss this important issue with you. The plight of the super hot in America has long been ignored. AOC has started a national conversation about this. You know, I know we have all dealt with it. By that, I mean, AOC, you Brianna, myself, and John -- well, the point is. We can start an organization or something. Just the other day, I noticed the IRS keeps sending me notices even though I’ve never expressed any interest in them. It’s like, why are you so obsessed with me? One day you wake up and think is there more to life than being really, really ridiculously good looking? I did it. And now I'm here. AOC did it and now she's a congresswoman.
Getting more serious, Ham pointed out the real reason the Democrat was facing criticism:
"In that capacity, you have to answer questions. I'm goofing on this because it's goofy. But to question the motives of every questioner you come across I don't think behooves you," she scolded.
Ham noted that of course women in the public eye will get attention from "creeps" but it's a cop-out to blame "fair questions" on that:
"But we also have to answer fair questions. And a fair question to AOC is, hey, is your trip with your partner to Florida dangerous to yourself and others? And if not, why not? Because if it's not, it suggests people can use their personal freedom to make decisions about their risk profiles and go forward in the world of Covid," Ham slammed.

She responded to one critic, saying quote, ‘if Republicans are mad, they can't date me, they can just say that instead of projecting their sexual frustrations onto my boyfriend's feet, ya creepy weirdos.’ Joining us now to discuss is CNN political commentator and conservative blogger, Mary Katharine Ham. HAM: Good morning.

JOHN BERMAN: Um, I don't know what to say exactly right now. One thing I will say, there is a Venn diagram here right? There are creepy weirdos out there. You are not denying the existence of creepy weirdos, just not everyone who asks the question is a creepy weirdo. I know Brianna had a question along those lines about sandals.
KEILAR: Yes, man sandals, yea or no, Mary Katharine?
HAM: Look I’m a ‘no’ but I’m not judging. Um, I don’t think–The interesting thing is this took a turn toward the sexual after the sandals were mentioned. AOC said that's the source of it. Look, I don't think man sandals have ever led to a sexual thought except for maybe in "Gladiator" that one time. That’s my position. Thank you for asking. No one has ever asked me that before.
