The liberal View hosts were on message for Friday’s show, namely that “Trump lied, people died.” Parroting CNN’s lies, the hosts claimed the Trump admin left Biden’s administration with “no plan” to distribute the vaccine and had cost countless American lives.
Like dutiful Democrat sycophants, they were thrilled by Biden’s 1.9 trillion dollar COVID “rescue” package and executive orders like mask mandates on federal property. But Meghan McCain was the only host to also call out Dr. Fauci for his mixed messaging, and Joe Biden and his family ignoring the very same mask mandate he signed into law that same day.
It started off with Joy Behar reacting to a clip of Dr. Fauci telling CNN’s John Berman this morning that President Trump’s lies were responsible for some people dying from COVID:
“America is set to hit a half million dead by February. I would like to know, how is saving lives still a political issue, and can President Biden win a war against lies, Ana? Some people even won't wear a mask to this day, no matter how much information they get, and no matter how many people die,” she lamented. She added later, "I don't think we're ever going to know exactly how many people died because of the last administration's failed policies."
Friday co-host Ana Navarro repeated the media talking point that the Biden administration was committed to truth and facts:
“I feel so happy for America that we're finally getting science. We're finally getting facts over politics. I feel very happy for Anthony Fauci. He looks like a hostage who's just been liberated,” she gushed. Navarro also emphasized the importance of mask-wearing and confirming abortion-extremist Xavier Becerra to HHS Secretary to defeat the virus.
Like Navarro, Sara Haines also praised Biden’s mask mandate and parroted CNN’s lies that there was no vaccine distribution plan left from the Trump administration:
This new administration was -- told us repeatedly we're going to come in and we're going to have a plan. What they revealed was, there wasn't just a poor mishandling. There was actually just no plan when they got there….We just didn't hear anything, and now we know it's because there was no plan, but as we sit here and watch us hit historic numbers, we need to know something's going on, and something is in charge. I'm finding that relief now.
That's when Meghan McCain made her co-hosts bristle by calling out both Dr. Fauci and Joe Biden for their mask hypocrisy, after they had spent all that time praising Biden for his mandate:
Since everyone has gone after the Trump administration, I think it is ok to hold the feet to the fire for Dr. Fauci as well. I remember being told, and I too would like to be treated like an adult, Sara, that ‘masks don't work’ and to throw them away. I was pregnant in New York City when the pandemic broke out. I had a bunch of masks and I ended up giving them away because it doesn’t do anything and you don’t need it. Just say to me, first responders need them more than the average American. Please donate them for the good of your heart. I would have done the same thing, but I was lied to.
We have President Biden yesterday, him and his family, they're not wearing masks after mandating and requiring people to wear masks on federal property. He and his family were not wearing masks out. So again, I think the rules for thee, but not for me that have been going on for a long time in the trump administration and now you're seeing with president Biden, I was really disappointed he wasn't wearing a mask and I would also like to say, Amazon, I don't really understand why you're now offering the Biden administration help with COVID vaccines after months of complete silence from Trump because that seems political as well. So why does Jeff Bezos all of a sudden want to help with vaccine distribution, but he didn't during the Trump administration? There is a lot of blame to go around everywhere. Yes, Trump was integral in spreading false information, but I'm not about to give Dr. Fauci a profile in courage award this morning.
But McCain's words seemed to fall on deaf ears. Behar certainly wasn't listening because she responded, "Okay. Dr. Fauci was outside and far away from everybody yesterday." She added, calling McCain's argument a "false equivalency."
Showing her true partisan colors, Sunny Hostin reacted by claiming Trump alone politicized the virus, and that was why people wouldn't take the vaccine, ignoring how the media, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris contributed their own vaccine misinformation.

SARA HAINES: ….When we were told that the former administration didn't want to panic anyone, well, if there's a fire in the house, I would really like to be treated like an adult and told there's a fire so I can find a way out, and I think that's what we're being told now. We have a plan, and this new administration was -- told us repeatedly we're going to come in and we're going to have a plan. What they revealed was, there wasn't just a poor mishandling. There was actually just no plan when they got there. So hearing that the mask mandate on federal property and interstate travel, setting up community vaccination sites and vowing to invoke the defense production act, creating a public dashboard to follow, these are just bullet point things we can follow, and the hardest part here is from the election to now --
HAINES: We just didn't hear anything, and now we know it's because there was no plan, but as we sit here and watch us hit historic numbers, we need to know something's going on, and something is in charge. I'm finding that relief now.
JOY BEHAR: Right. I don't think we're ever going to know exactly how many people died because of the last administration's failed policies. Do you think we'll ever find that out, Meghan?
MEGHAN MCCAIN: Look, I think the great horror of living in America right now is the absolute and complete and total breakdown of trust in our institutions and since everyone has gone after the Trump administration, I think it is ok to hold the feet to the fire for Dr. Fauci as well. I remember being told, and I too would like to be treated like an adult, Sara, that ‘masks don't work’ and to throw them away. I was pregnant in New York City when the pandemic broke out. Yes, Trump was integral in spreading false information, but I'm not about to give Dr. Fauci a profile in courage award this morning.
JOY BEHAR: Okay. Dr. Fauci was outside and far away from everybody yesterday. Sunny, do you think that this is a false equivalency that we just heard or not?
SUNNY HOSTIN: Well, you know, I think that -- what I want to mention is that the reason that this is a partisan issue is because Trump made it a partisan issue. Trump politicized the virus in ways that I don't think any of us would have imagined. I mean, he politicized wearing masks. He, you know, doled out resources according to red states and blue states, and, you know, I just read this morning that Walgreens says up to 80% of its staff of some long-term care facilities declined COVID-19 vaccines and that is because people are scared because of President Trump.
... There needs to be accountability for those that enabled President Trump, those that continue this big lie that COVID is a hoax, those that are continuing this anti-mask movement. There will not be unity. There will not be unity of message before there is accountability, and that is I think, one of the issues that we still need to talk about in this country. That is why we are going to be stuck and that is why we’re not going to handle this pandemic in the way that we need to.
