With Thanksgiving just a few days away, 50 million Americans were predicted to travel and not let a virus with a 99.6 percent survival rate keep them from gathering with family. This irritated the liberal media, who decried those refusing to be locked in their homes. CBS Evening News fill-in anchor Margaret Brennan took to bashing travelers by saying they would be responsible for killing 250,000 people. Meanwhile, police departments around the country were refusing to enforce abusive restrictions.
Brennan bashed the Thanksgiving travels right at the top of the program. She even put aside breaking news that the Biden transition got the okay to proceed.
“But we're going to begin first with the millions of Americans ignoring warnings from the CDC not to travel tonight. A dangerous move that health experts are warning will send the deepening crisis into an even faster and deadly her tailspin,” she sneered.
She then put the deaths of 250,000 more Americans on the heads of those just trying to spend time with family during a difficult year:
Tonight one model used by the White House says Americans should expect the death toll to double by the first of March. To nearly half a million people nationwide.
With millions already on the road or in the air tonight part of an estimated 50 million Americans expected to travel for Thanksgiving, experts say it is guaranteed that cases of coronavirus will soon explode even more than they are right now.
Meanwhile, across the country, radical Democratic officials threatened their residents with claims they would have the police break down their doors if they were entertaining guests. Luckily many police departments were refusing to be a part of that kind of tyranny.
“There is increasing pushback tonight against various government restrictions to try to prevent the spread of the coronavirus amid gatherings on Thanksgiving. A lot of that is happening in California,” announced Fox News Channel anchor Bret Baier during Special Report.
Speaking about Governor Gavin Newsom’s (D-CA) nightly curfew put in place to deny people the joys of their First Amendment right to gather, national correspondent William La Jeunesse reported that “at least 16 police agencies refuse to enforce the order.”
La Jeunesse then showed off a soundbite of the L.A. Country Sheriff’s Department’s Captain Edward Ramirez saying they weren’t going to prowling around neighborhoods looking to bust gatherings. “I can tell you that the sheriff's deputies are not going to be out on foot or they are not going to be out of their vehicles looking for people between the hours of 10-6,” he said.
Then there was the case of radically liberal Oregon, where La Jeunesse noted that Governor Kate Brown (D) issued an edict that “no more than six people from two unrelated households can gather at any one time or place, indoors or out.”
“Several police agencies are pushing back as Thanksgiving approaches. ‘If some of the calls in and says, ‘my neighbor’s got ten people over at their house,’ we are not coming,’ said Pendleton Police Chief Stewart Roberts,” he read.
None of this pushback from law enforcement was reported by CBS, nor ABC’s World News Tonight and NBC Nightly News.
Margaret Brennan’s contempt for people just trying to seek comfort during a terrible time was made possible because of lucrative sponsorships from Progressive and Chase. 6:27:24 p.m. EasternBRET BAIER: There is increasing pushback tonight against various government restrictions to try to prevent the spread of the coronavirus amid gatherings on Thanksgiving. A lot of that is happening in California. National correspondent William La Jeunesse shows us tonight from Los Angeles.
[Cuts to video]
UNIDENTIFIED MAN: The governor's ruling by edict, by fiat, and we’re not going to allow that anymore.
WILLIAM LA JEUNESSE: Protests in California against Governor Gavin Newsom's mandatory four-week order to stay home from ten at night to 5:00 A.M.
KEVIN FAULCONER (R, mayor of San Diego): People are angry, and rightfully so, because what we continue to see is executive order after executive order rather than the real leadership we need out of the governor.
LA JEUNESSE: Officials called the curfew necessary as cases tripled in the last month.
DR. MARK GHALY (CA, Health and Human Services sec.): Record high hospitalizations and intensive care unit stays.
LA JEUNESSE: But at least 16 police agencies refuse to enforce the order.
CAPT. EDWARD RAMIREZ (L.A. Country Sheriff’s Department): I can tell you that the sheriff's deputies are not going to be out on foot or they are not going to be out of their vehicles looking for people between the hours of 10-6.
LA JEUNESSE: A similar situation in Oregon where Governor Kate Brown said no more than six people from two unrelated households can gather at any one time or place, indoors or out. And if you witness any neighbors violating the rule, Brown says call the police.
GOV. KATE BROWN (D-OR): At this point in time unfortunately we have no other option.
LA JEUNESSE: Several police agencies are pushing back as Thanksgiving approaches. “If some of the calls in and says, ‘my neighbor’s got ten people over at their house,’ we are not coming,” said Pendleton Police Chief Stewart Roberts.
In Nevada, no more than ten from two separate families can gather indoors. 50 max at weddings and churches, casinos and bars capped at 25 percent capacity.
GOV. STEVE SISOLAK (D-NV): Our case rate growth is at a wildfire level. Even outpacing neighboring states such as Arizona.

LA JEUNESSE: In New York, which imposed the ten-person limit on gatherings, Governor Andrew Cuomo said police, quote, "Don't have the right to pick which laws to enforce.” Bret.
BAIER: William, thank you.
