Think the left went crazy at Kanye West’s Trump support last year? Just wait until they get wind of his newest abortion comments in conjunction with his Christian hip hop album Jesus Is King, which was released on Friday.
In a clip highlighted by pro-life groups from an October 25 interview with Big Boy TV, West talked about the effect Democrat policies have had on African Americans, including abortion:
West: We’re brainwashed out here, bro. Come on, man. This is a free man talking. Democrats had us voting Democrats for food stamps for years, bro. What are you talking about? Guns in the ‘80s, taking the fathers out the home, Plan B, lowering our votes, making us abort our children. Thou shall not kill.
Predictably, the left is not happy with West’s Christian album and his comments on Democrats and abortion. Vice’s Susan Rinkunas snarked, “[N]ow we're learning what kind of religious West is, and it's dad who shares anti-abortion Facebook posts.” And compared him “to a televangelist who's simply commodifying faith.”
In light of the Big Boy interview, Rinkunas reported with a straight face, “West claimed without evidence that Democrats are making Black people abort their children.” Interestingly enough, she did not wrestle with the statistics that prove abortion’s disproportionate impact on the black community, but instead focused on how Kanye “seemed to confuse Plan B with abortion.”
Going to bat for the abortion industry, reproductive justice writer Rinkunas wrote, “Conflating Plan B with abortion is an anti-abortion talking point that medical groups are continuously working to debunk,” while citing the pro-abortion American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG). Even ACOG admits that Plan B emergency contraception can prevent a fertilized egg from implanting, but defines the beginning of pregnancy as implantation, rejecting the scientific consensus of 95 percent of biologists who say human life begins at conception/fertilization (i.e. it can be an abortifacient).
Over the last several months, Kanye has put on a series of Christian-themed concerts called “Sunday Services” and said he will no longer be making secular music, “only gospel from here on out.” At a listening party last month, West talked about being saved, coming “to know the truth and joy of Jesus," and called his new album “an expression of the gospel,” according to Billboard.
In the past he has seemingly endorsed abortion. In 2011, he tweeted, "An abortion can cost a ballin' nigga up to 50gs maybe a 100. Gold diggin' bitches be getting pregnant on purpose." His wife, Kim Kardashian West, endorsed Hillary Clinton in 2016 in part because of her pro-abortion stance.
Among the unspeakable horrors Jesus Is King has produced, New York Daily News reported, “Kanye praises notoriously anti-LGBTQ Chick-fil-A in new song.” Pardon me as I listen to Kanye’s new album while picking up Chick-fil-A on my way to the next pro-life rally.
