Nets Ignore May Crediting Trump With Getting NATO Allies to Pay Up, Hype Protesters

June 4th, 2019 10:01 PM

At a joint press conference in London on Tuesday, U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May thanked President Trump for putting pressure on the NATO members who were not paying what they agreed to and getting results. But instead of the reporting on that praise during their evening newscasts, the liberal broadcast networks chose to hype anti-Trump protesters, including an effigy of him on the toilet, and acted shocked that Trump would complement his hosts.

“Since we spoke about NATO during my first visit to the White House, we have maintained our support for this crucial alliance. Thanks in part to your clear message on burden sharing, Donald, we have seen members pledge another $100 billion, increasing their contributions to our shared security,” May boasted before the press.

Proving their ridiculousness in omitting this part of the story, CBS News actually tweeted out a video of May’s positive comments earlier in the day.

CBS White House correspondent Ben Tracy never mentioned those particular compliments from May during the CBS Evening News. But he did find time to quip about how Trump “may have seen this, a blimp depicting him as an angry baby” on his ride to see the Prime Minister.

He even shared his segment with CBS foreign correspondent Roxana Saberi so she could talk about how “several thousand protesters were in the street, far fewer than on the President’s previous last summer but still passionate.”

Her part of the report highlighted a “Philadelphia native” with such a strong case of Trump Derangement Syndrome, that he “commissioned this robot of President Trump tweeting and talking on a toilet.

“President Trump complimented Prime Minister Theresa May after repeatedly criticizing her handling of Britain's exit from the European Union,” Tracy said at one point, seeming shocked by Trump’s good behavior. “The President is clearly enjoying his visit to London, calling the Queen and the royal family ‘fantastic.’”

Meanwhile, on NBC Nightly News, anchor Lester Holt appeared critical of how Trump “dismissed” the “thousands of demonstrators” who were “taking to the streets.”

NBC chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel seemed to take great joy in sharing some the anti-Trump imagery the U.K. had to offer on his Twitter page, including a nude drawing (don’t worry he cropped the image), a banner of Trump as Ronald McDonald, and Trump impersonator in pink leggings.

But during his report on Nightly News, he boasted of how “thousands turned out to protest President Trump, even bringing the now-famous baby Trump blimp, authorized to fly explicitly by London’s Mayor, a Trump critic.

BEN TRACY: All that red, white, and blue certainly proved the point, but at this news conference --

PRIME MINISTER THERESA MAY: I've always talked openly with you, Donald.

TRACY: There was another special relationship on display.

PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP: I think you deserve a lot of credit. I really do.

TRACY: President Trump complimented Prime Minister Theresa May after repeatedly criticizing her handling of Britain's exit from the European Union.

(…)

TRACY: Mr. Trump is pushing for a mange post-Brexit trade deal and seemed to suggest that the Prime Minister, who resigns on Friday, help get it done.

(…)

TRACY: The President is clearly enjoying his visit to London, calling the Queen and the royal family "fantastic." The President brought his own family, all four of his dull children, along on the trip. But he's also trying to ignore the locals who aren’t so happy to see him.

(…)

TRACY: But as the President's motorcade drove the Downing Street, he may have seen this, a blimp depicting him as an angry baby. My colleague Roxana Saberi was with the protest yours.

ROXANA SABERI: Several thousand protesters were in the street, far fewer than on the President’s previous last summer but still passionate.

(…)

SABERI: So does Philadelphia native Don Lesson, who commissioned this robot of President Trump tweeting and talking on a toilet.
