Appearing on the Wednesday edition of FBN’s Making Money, MRC President Brent Bozell ripped the liberal media and CNN in particular for their advanced case of Trump Derangement Syndrome showing with their “embarrassing” and “insulting” “gossip” about First Lady Melania Trump’s health.
Host Charles Payne set the scene regarding the media hysteria over First Lady’s recovery from kidney surgery before asking Bozell: “You’ve been in this business a long time. Have you seen anything like this?”
On cue, Bozell replied that he hasn’t seen this kind of “obsession and it’s embarrassing and it’s insulting.”
He attacked the relentless use of anonymous sources to spread innuendo. “I mean, it's just gossip. Gossip all the time. Turn on CNN at any moment of the day and they’re attacking and it's always ‘Source:’ and which is another way of saying ‘Gossip,'” he added.
Bozell again took on CNN later in the segment and offered up an intriguing point for viewers to consider concerning media coverage of Afghanistan:
Yeah and my answer to CNN is where is the news? And what happened to it? You know, we’re talk about this Trump Derangement Syndrome and it’s exactly what it is at the expense of what? Folks, think about this. We are, right now, involved in a war. We are at war in Afghanistan. When was the last time you saw a story about a war that we are involved in? And yet, no, we’re going to talk about where was Melania. This is how embarrassing it’s gotten. We are at war and I — I — just for the audience out there — scratch your head and ask yourself: When was the last time you saw a story about the status of American forces at war in Afghanistan?
Bozell’s fellow panelist and frequent Fox guest Gina Loudon cited another topic that’s received less attention, which is the bustling state of the American economy.
“Imagine, Charles, if — if we had the economic news out of Obama that we had that this president has accomplished — that President Trump has accomplished. Imagine, it would wall-to-wall coverage. It would be the front of every single newspaper headline and, yet, you hear nothing about that and they we’d rather talk about palace intrigue and made-up stories about violence,” she opined.
