“Peña Nieto was not ready for Trump,” tweeted Univision anchor Jorge Ramos in the wake of the Republican presidential candidate’s surprise visit with Mexican President Enrique Peña-Nieto.
Following the visit, Ramos fired off a series of tweets expressing his astonishment over Trump’s performance at the Mexican presidential palace, as well as his clear disappointment that the Mexican President failed to emulate Ramos, who a year ago told Trump at a press conference that “you cannot build a 1900-mile wall.”
Peña Nieto “lost a unique opportunity to confront Trump,” Ramos tweeted, and further lamented that Trump left Mexico “without changing even a little his anti-immigrant platform.”
Univison’s chief news anchor, who has taken sides in the U.S. presidential election, calling Trump a “threat to the American experiment” and declaring that the U.S. is on the verge of an “abyss…named Donald Trump” added on Twitter that it was “incredible that Trump controlled the press conference” that was held in Mexico’s presidential palace.
