Hillary Clinton made a rare appearance on Fox News Sunday in a sit down interview with host Chris Wallace. When asked about the truthfulness of her statements to the public, regarding how she handled classified emails, she asserted that FBI Director James Comey vindicated her, when in fact he proved the opposite. And CBS was the only network in the “big three” to call her out on it in their evening broadcasts Monday. “Donald Trump is typically the one who runs afoul of fact checkers, but Clinton's answer to a question on Fox News yesterday earned her four Pinocchios from the Washington Post,” reported CBS’s Nancy Cordes.
In the Fox News interview Clinton falsely claimed, “Director Comey said that my answers were truthful and what I've said is consistent with what I have told the American people.” But Cordes easily slapped that claim down. “Comey did testify that Clinton was truthful to the FBI, but not necessarily to the American people,” she said, before playing a clip from a House hearing Comey testified at following the release of his recommendation not to prosecute Clinton.
TREY GOWDY: Secretary Clinton said there was nothing marked classified on her e-mails either sent or received. Was that true?
JAMES COMEY: That's not true. There were a small number of portion markings on I think three of the documents.
GOWDY: Secretary Clinton said, "I did not E-Mail any classified material to anyone on my E-Mail. There is no classified material." Was that true?
COMEY: There was classified material E-Mailed.
Neither ABC nor NBC mentioned Clinton’s false statements, while CBS had the only Hillary Clinton centered report. While some of their reports about Donald Trump did mention Clinton, none of the reports were about her specifically.
In addition, the Spanish-language networks Univision and Telemundo also didn’t report on the lies Clinton told on while Fox News.
