NBC Nightly News has fully jumped into the immigration wars, and taken a side. In a report more in place at corporate partner Telemundo, NBC is now whining over a new migrant detention facility set to open in Florida, dubbed “Alligator Alcatraz” due to its proximity to the Everglades and its variety of reptilian apex predators.

Over the course of this second Trump administration, the legacy media selected several poster children for immigration before settling on alleged MS-13 ganbanger and accused human trafficker Kilmar Abrego Garcia. President Trump recently announced that he would give Iran two weeks to agree to a diplomatic solution on its nuclear program before considering whether or not to join Israel’s campaign against it. On Friday’s edition of NBC Nightly News, Andrea Mitchell platformed Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to trash the idea.

In a landmark ruling, the Supreme Court of the United States held that Tennessee had a constitutional right to ban hormonal and surgical child mutilation, more commonly referred to by its NewSpeakian nomenclature: “gender-affirming health care.” In covering this landmark ruling, the legacy media chose to identify as “sad.”

All three of the main broadcast networks suggested that President Trump’s decision to put on a Saturday parade for the Army’s 250th birthday was a waste of money, but only Friday’s NBC Nightly News went so far as to compare it to “North Korea and Russia.”

Even though CBS’s lead newscasts were far and away the most out of control Tuesday night and Wednesday morning in siding with the illegal immigrant mobs in Los Angeles and attacking President Trump for a simple desire to restore law and order, their compatriots at ABC and NBC had plenty of their own hot takes. On Monday, the “Big Three” of ABC, CBS, and NBC took to their flagship evening newscasts to provide further air cover for the pro-illegal immigrant rioters in Los Angeles, bemoaning the raids on “unauthorized immigrants” last week as having created another chapter in the “contentious and polarizing debate over immigration policy.”

NBC Nightly News was the only legacy media evening newscast to air an item on the investigation into the use of the autopen during the Biden Administration. But, in what could be an early sign of what to expect in the Tom Llamas Era, the purpose of the report was to firefight the allegations rather than air them.

Since when don’t judges blocking deportations go immediately to the top of A-block on legacy network newscasts? It turns out that there is not as much interest in covering a blocked deportation when it isn’t immediately useful as Resistance Porn. Case in point: the planned deportations of the family of the accused Boulder fire bombing jihadist. 

The legacy media generally love to report on perceived palace intrigue and betrayal, unless the intrigue happens within a Democrat White House. Then, it’s all quiet on the Leftern Front. NBC’s reporting on the new book by former White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre is the exception.

If an insurrection dropped in a tony San Diego neighborhood and no legacy media covered it, did it really happen? With the exception of NBC Nightly News, this seems to be the working assumption among the legacy media evening newscasts.

Tom Llamas, the new NBC Nightly News anchor, is telling people NBC is straight down the middle. We at NewsBusters love the concept of fair and balanced news. But that doesn't mean NBC News has achieved it nightly.
