After having spent weeks trashing anti-lockdown protests during the coronavirus pandemic as racist and a threat to public health, on Wednesday, the broadcast networks tried to excuse the same COVID concerns amid nationwide protests over the death of George Floyd. In part, journalists argued “the virus of hate may be more dangerous” and that racism was the real pandemic.

The big three networks continued to gaslight Americans by insisting that protests and riots across the country were “mostly peaceful” while cities burn, policemen are attacked and both officers and bystanders are assaulted and in some cases, murdered. Completely ignoring his recent racist comment declaring “you ain’t black” if you’re African American and vote for President Trump, the broadcast networks (ABC, CBS, and NBC) praised former Vice President Joe Biden for providing a “stark” and “sharp” contrast to the President on the matter of George Floyd’s death.

During an interview with NYPD Chief Terence Monahan on Tuesday, CBS This Morning co-host Tony Dokoupil pressed him to admit “racism” was plaguing police departments across the country. After Monahan rejected the notion, Dokoupil and fellow co-host Gayle King engaged in hand-wringing over his refusal to accept the accusation.

On Monday, the network morning shows offered a combined 69 seconds of coverage on historic St. John’s Church in Washington, D.C. being set on fire and vandalized by violent protesters Sunday night. On Tuesday, those same broadcasts devoted a combined 30 minutes of coverage to hyping the “outrage” over President Trump visiting the church Monday evening.

The networks spent this morning crying outrage at President Trump for visiting the historic St. John’s Church on Monday to show his support, after Antifa broke windows and tried to burn it down the night before. On Monday, CBS This Morning lined up so-called “experts” on race relations to accuse “white Americans” of being “taught” to have “contempt for black life” and that racism was like “dust in the air,” something “ingrained in our society.” The nasty blanket statements were treated as objective fact rather than radical declarations.
