All three network morning shows on Friday celebrated Hillary Clinton’s Thursday night debate performance as if she was a champion prize fighter. On NBC’s Today, co-host Savannah Guthrie proclaimed: “Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders faced off in their most contentious debate yet. Clinton accusing Sanders of running a, quote, ‘artful smear,’ against her.”

According to Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly on Friday, the Democratic primary race is a hyped-up media “mirage” and Hillary Clinton will almost certainly win the nomination. Appearing on Good Morning America, Kellly dismissed, “It seems to me like some sort of mirage. Because, you know, if you look at Clinton's long haul she's the favorite in every state after New Hampshire.”

Madoff was a very well done, 4-hour television event. Telling the story of, obviously, Bernie Madoff and his $50 billion dollar Ponzi scheme, it had a very “Goodfellas” feel to it, complete with good use of flashbacks and music.

Before footnoting Hillary Clinton’s awkward answer on her speaking fees to Wall Street firms from Wednesday’s Democratic Presidential Town Hall, NBC News Clinton correspondent Andrea Mitchell gushed on Thursday’s NBC Nightly News how Clinton “show[ed] her softer, more reflective side in New Hampshire” with “a rare glimpse last night.”

On Thursday, all three network morning shows touted Hillary Clinton’s performance at CNN’s Democratic town hall event. On NBC’s Today, correspondent Andrea Mitchell gushed: “A different side of Hillary Clinton was on display Wednesday night.”

Nightline reporters on Wednesday offered a gushing look at Bernie Sanders, hailing the “political revolution” by the socialist senator and praising his presidential campaign as “on fire.” The almost-seven minute segment was devoid of questioning the presidential candidate’s ideology. Instead, journalist David Wright informed viewers, “Integrity and authenticity are words his supporters use.” 

Senator Ted Cruz on Thursday battled with ABC’s Tom Llamas after the Good Morning America reporter accused the Republican of using “dirty tricks” against Ben Carson in Iowa. Regarding a press release and a tweet sent out by the Cruz campaign on caucus night, Llamas demanded, “Will you fire or suspend anyone at your campaign for putting out misinformation?...Is it a dirty trick to confuse voters?”

The networks continued to act as promoters of Donald Trump on Wednesday as ABC’s World News Tonight and NBC Nightly News devoted over six minutes to Trump accusing Ted Cruz of “stealing” the Iowa caucuses while the CBS Evening News spent only 35 seconds on Trump and Ben Carson lashing out at Cruz. Among the most intense moments was ABC’s Tom Llamas clashing with Cruz during a press conference…
