Moments before Wednesday’s House Oversight Committee hearing with former Trump attorney Michael Cohen began, the broadcast networks reveled in their own excitement as anchors and correspondents predicted doom for President Trump. The hearing was framed as everything from an impeachment “test drive” for Democrats to “a bullet right to the heart of the investigation into the President.”

On ABC’s Good Morning America, co-host George Stephanopoulos framed today’s congressional testimony from ex-Trump lawyer Michael Cohen not as a case of an admitted liar potentially seeking to avoid the consequences of his crimes, but as an “epic,” “historic,” “Watergate”-style showdown, with Cohen playing the role of Nixon White House whistleblower John Dean.

ABC’s comedy black-ish (sic) celebrated black history on Tuesday’s episode, “Black History Month.” But only liberal black figures were truly celebrated while only one conservative, Dr. Ben Carson, was mentioned…and treated like a pariah. The show also depicted its white characters as ignorant and racist, as per usual.

After first allowing Venezuelan dictator Nicolas Maduro to spout off lies and conspiratorial statements against the United States on Monday’s World News Tonight, the report on Tuesday’s Good Morning America actually highlighted ABC chief national correspondent Tom Llamas pressing the murderous dictator on his regime’s atrocities.

Socialism causes “hellish” suffering and desperation for Venezuelans. But there’s been a major failure by the broadcast networks in their coverage of the South American country’s economic collapse. They’re not mentioning socialism, hardly at all.  

Apparently, one congressional effort that can’t succeed is worthy of attention on ABC and CBS, but the other is not. The difference? The two networks yawned at a pro-life effort to protect infants who survive abortions. But Good Morning America and CBS This Morning hyped the mostly Democratic move to terminate Donald Trump’s national declaration of emergency on the southern border. 

While all three broadcast network shows on Tuesday hyped Donald Trump’s former attorney Michael Cohen preparing to testify before Congress throughout the week against the President, amazingly, ABC’s Good Morning America completely skipped any mention of the convicted felon’s massive credibility problems and that he previously lied to Congress.
